University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

UMass 1-0

Breazeale with a terrible turnover, leads to a guy in on Boija’s alone. Breazeale could have kept it to the outside off the boards and clear the zone. Nope passes to the center of the ice on a UMass guy’s tape. Ugly.
 
Real, real fun basketball game. Great atmosphere at the Pit. First playoff win in 20 years.

Not thrilled to flip over and see hockey down already.
 
I'm here at the Mullins, and I honestly liked that period, despite the score. They definitely came to play and were the better team to start out, and have been much more physical. If they can rein it in and stop taking penalties they can take this.
 
Boija must be happy. D that turns pucks over, team takes penalties causing Maine need kill 3 power plays, and D refuses to clear the screens in front on power play. Mercuri was untouched and camped out at the top of the crease for entire shifts.

Always a better perspective live.

Im not liking the bad passing and turning over the puck in neutral zone while they try to move it up the boards without success.

Meanwhile mass skates right through the neutral zone and into the offensive zone and cycles it around.

Maine looks to be more physical tonight, its needed, going to have to chase the puck hard and take away their time if they want this.

Now Makar takes a major. 5 minute power play for UMass.

I’m guessing the boys have a contest who can get the penalty box attendant’s insta or number.

What is with all the Maine penalties. Frustrating to watch.

This reminds me of that weekend last season when we played UNH down in Durham. A complete clunker.
 
Makar play happened at the far end of the rink from me, so I didn't get a very good look at it. I saw the UMA guy take a hard spill into the post, but couldn't see much else; how bad was it?
 
I mean it looked bad but I'm not sure about 5 minutes bad without seeing a replay. The refs spent about 3 seconds looking at it. Not sure how Fowlers board wasn't looked at
