He won't be in the lineup for tonight's rematch with the Rangers in Philadelphia. But on the positive side, Mat Bodie will make his preseason debut for the Rangers (7 PM, MSG)

SB Nation is out with its picks for ECAC all stars, first, second and third teams and rookie team. All ECAC teams are represented with at least one player except RPI which had none. J.C. Brassard (Union) made the rookie team. Does anyone know if he is any good?

Brassard is very talented offensively but may have a big jump to make on his overall game coming directly out of NE Preps. Of course a recent U d-man who was recently seen smoking a slapper past Henrik Lundquist made the jump fairly successfully ;).

Gostisbehere was just sent down to Lehigh Valley (AHL). Now just two Union guys still in NHL camps, Kinkaid and Jooris.

I would not have placed us in the top 10 either. However, 3 NCHC and only two HE?

2 WCHA

West 7

IMO the two top leagues last year were HE and the ECAC. This poll, by the highly respected team at College Hockey News, is announcing the return of Western Supremacy in College Hockey. Some leagues may be stronger than last year but certainly the ECAC is one of them. I do see St. Cloud, Minni and Colgate in the FF with one other team. Colgate brings home the trophy. We are going to know where we stand early with NH, Maine at their barn where they are invincible, and ST. Cloud where they had the second best road record in College Hockey (we had the best). For the freshmen, baptism by fire.

Maybe it's history, maybe it's being a Westerner. Maybe it's the fact many of the questions I get are from fellow Westerners. Looking back at last season, one thing I noticed was that I would still be holding back with ECAC teams when we did our SBN Power Rankings. That's despite an all-ECAC championship the year before, despite Colgate coming into Mariucci and holding serve with the top two teams in the country (at the time), seeing Union against St. Cloud State and the Dutchmen's undefeated stretch run to the title.

For this year you've earned the benefit of the doubt ECAC.

I will believe it when I see it ....
