UNION Hockey National Champion's Off Season-U Believe it?

Re: UNION Hockey National Champion's Off Season-U Believe it?

No Bodie or Grosenick tonight in the Worcester vs Hartford game but Langlois from the good guys (Q) did score twice

Re: UNION Hockey National Champion's Off Season-U Believe it?

Busy night in Union hockey alumni news. Daniel Carr scored the game-winner for Hamilton in a 3-2 AHL preseason win over St. John's.

Josh Jooris scored two goals for the Calgary Flames in a 4-2 preseason win over Winnipeg. When camp opened, I thought Jooris was probably bound for the AHL again. But he's had an outstanding camp and there seems to be a lot of momentum towards him breaking camp with the big league team.

Good stuff. Can you imagine what we could have accomplished last season if JJ had stuck around? Oh wait, we did that. :D In the alumni vein, I saw a brief interview of Nolan Julseth White on TV 10 the other night. He has a tryout with the Adirondack Flames. Great player and individual. Good luck to him too.

Calgary made 3 more cuts today, but Jooris is still there. The roster is now at 30, needs to get to 23 by Tuesday night.

We now have been picked to finish #2 .... in the NCAA !!!!

NCAA Preseason Top 20: No. 2 Union Dutchmen

The article itself serves up a host of reasons why we should not finish that high. I don't know what these people are smoking. Go figure. Glad the season is beginning so all this crazy speculation can go away. Our record is 0-0. Lets drop the puck !!!!!

It was announced today that the festivities before next Friday's regular season opener vs AIC will begin at 7:45 p.m. It's asked that anyone going be seated by 7:30 p.m.

Four banners will be raised to the Messa Rink rafters. In order: Cleary Cup championship, Whitelaw Cup championship, NCAA tourney participant, national championship.

I was in the Harvard Alumni Association Office, 124 Mt. Auburn Street, 6th Floor over on University Place the week before last and saw this fantastic photo of Harvard's 1989 Championship Team hanging over a kitchen sink. It shows in the back row #6 Ted Donato and #21 Kevin Sneddon standing next to each other and Head Coach Bill Cleary. That team also had a great Captain, #19 Lane MacDonald. If you download it, it will be a very sharp image.

Union hockey goal is another national championship
Dutchmen won't bask in first national title for long — they're too busy chasing a second one

Sounds like the celebration is over right after the banners are raised .... then its off after another National Championship ....

I chatted with former Union standout TJ Fox on his retirement and pro career in general: http://bit.ly/1upKv4j
I do remember what a shock that was at the time, things have certainly changed in a few short years.

Surely that degree would be a good thing to have at this point, but he seems content with here he is in his life. I wish him every success in his future endeavors.

Seven of eight Freshmen in today's lineup ... fantastic !! :) We are going to get a chance to see them play. Only Ryan Scarfo missing ..... RB is going to take a serious look .... giving everyone an opportunity to step up.:D

Also missing three regulars, Nick Cruice, Max Novak and Matt Wilkins.

Only take away from UPEI vs RPI yesterday was that RPI's goalies both looked very very good. UPEI's goalie never showed up. Also, ... 67 minutes of penalties. Some things never change. Never saw an evicted goalie (UPEI) until yesterday.

There are plenty of jobs to be had on this team .... big shoes to fill.

Looks like we are sending out the B team, which is good for the younger guys. Spencer Foo looked good in warmups.
