Union Hockey 2011 Off Season Thread-"Union, We've Paid Our Dues"

Re: Union Hockey 2011 Off Season Thread-"Union, We've Paid Our Dues"

hoky is so far in your head it's hilarious. Some of the best summer reading has been all of you Troy twits getting scalped time and time again by the hokester.

I admit it, I laughed. Well played.

With a #5 pre season ranking, is it possible that we might be hearing "Nate who"? by seasonn's end?
Good question but with the goaltending situation and Mike Ingoldsby's return very much in doubt, I think No. 5 is a real stretch. Another way of looking at is does this team look stronger than the one that finished last season at no. 12? I suppose it's possible but at the outset I wouldn't bet on it. Still this is a very talented and potentially dangerous team which will hopefully peak at the right time.

U recruit Andrew Johnston has been traded from Flin Flon to Humboldt (both in the SJHL). This is interesting because Humboldt is hosting the RBC Cup, which is the Jr. A championships in Canada, and the host team typically attracts good players because they are guaranteed a spot in the tournament. Article also mentions that he had an opportunity to go to the USHL.

Some dates and events of which to take note. October 3rd, Ice Breaker at the Nott. I believe the start time will be 6:00. October 29 at AIC game, the Cleary Cup banner will be raised at Messa. Details on both should be out soon.

Re: Union Hockey 2011 Off Season Thread-"Union, We've Paid Our Dues"

That's good to know about the date when the banner gets raised.

By the way, I saw an ad in the Times Union over the weekend that said you can get $2 off all regular season home games if you show your Price Chopper Advantage card at the box office. Someone asked here last month if they're still doing that and it looks like they are. Tickets become $7/$9 with the card... regularly 9 or 11 this year, I think.

Speaking of tickets, has anyone who ordered season tickets received theirs yet? I filled out the brochure and mailed it in at the end of August, but I haven't received anything. The check hasn't even been cashed (I thought at least that would have happened). 1st time season ticket holder.

I haven't gotten my tickets yet either. They usually aren't sent out before the first week in October and they can actually be picked up at the Ice Breaker. I believe those not picked up that night are usually mailed the first week in October. You can always check with the Athletic Department ticket office, Kathee Natole, to make certain.

Re: Union Hockey 2011 Off Season Thread-"Union, We've Paid Our Dues"

Actually next Wednesday is a devils rangers game, not an Albany devils game so I assume brodeur will play, not Kinkaid.

I'm aware of what teams are playing. Kincaid is at New Jersey's training camp as we speak.

Given that it is NJ's first pre-season game, it's not being played in an NHL market, they play the Rangers again two nights later at home in NJ, AND its Marty's 108th season in the league, its not unrealistic, nor would it be unusual for any or all of the following to occur:
a) Brodeur doesn't make the trip to ALB
b) Brodeur or the #2 plays 1 period
c) many of the youngsters i.e. Kincaid would be rotated into the game.

Given that this game is austensibly being played for the benefit of marketing the Albany Devils, having Kincaid in uniform seems to make sense to draw local media attention to the event , givem the strong possibility he lands on ALB's roster.
