Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 Season Thread "We Can See Cleary Now"

Union is the league champion because they are clearly the best team in our league. They had every reason in the world to flinch this year w/their coach leaving and there #1 goalie leaving. They didn't skip a beat thats a credit to your coach and your players.U is on an unbelieveable three year run and they deserve everything they get.I fully expect them to leave AC with the prize. It will get exponentially harder from there, but who thought UMD was going to win it all last year certainally not me.So Good Luck from this RPI fan and as always GO RED !

Does anyone know if Union has a block of tickets? The last time they made the semifinals, they were allotted a group of tickets, as the schools should be. However, besides the bus trip, I don't see any mention of *just* tickets. I wanted to see if I could get a decent price through the school, as opposed to getting ripped off by Ticketmaster.

Stand outside Boardwalk Hall before the game, they'll probably be giving them away for free.:D

Don't settle for free - you should be able to get them to throw in a few hot dogs and maybe some poker chips, too.

Pretty sure they do. I bought one today with my bus ticket and one for my son who will be joining me there. Turns out now I'm likely driving anyway. Oh well.

Yes, Union does indeed have a block of tickets. They are only listing the bus/ticket package online though. If you call the number listed there, you can buy the all-session tickets in the Union block for $52. That's what I will be doing.

Thanks. I know we could have easily walked up to the door 30 minutes before the puck drop and gotten center ice seats, but I'd prefer to have the tickets in my hand as I'm driving down the Thruway. :D

Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 Season Thread "We Can See Cleary Now"

If I had to guess, I'd say that Jeremy Welsh is more likely to go pro before graduation than is Grosenick though I have no idea what his plans are. I've heard that he has nearly enough credits to graduate already, so maybe that will be a factor. NJ loves to keep family members on board so I'm guessing KZ will likely end up in their organization though of course he is a senior. Ironically, as we saw last year, a nondrafted player who excels in college has a lot more options and leverage and is more likely to go in the "college" draft.

Re: Union Hockey 2011-2012 Season Thread "We Can See Cleary Now"

Just a guess, but I'd guess Welsh goes pro. He's had a breakout year, has a pro-style body, and at 23 going on 24 (4/30), now's probably the time for him. Though he's a junior, he's actually older than a senior like Zajac.

I'd guess Grosenick stays one more year. By comparison, Kinkaid had considerably more ice time in his first two years.... about 1000 more minutes, I believe.

Per Ken Schott, Union has a verbal committment from 6'3 200 pound forward David Roy. He plays on the same team as fellow Union recruit Sebastian Gingras (Brockville-CJHL). Expected to arrive in the fall, the 20-year-old Roy tallied 32 goals and 37 assists in 57 regular season games this year.
