Re: Union College: 2016-2017
This was the heading in November when we last faced Clarkson
Clarkson's rugged style too much for Union hockey

In the opening minutes of the game, the sounds of the board-rattling body checks being dished out by Clarkson skaters made it clear the Golden Knights were bringing a physical brand of hockey to the Union College Dutchmen. If that weren't enough, Kelly Summers' perfectly timed body check on Union's 6-foot-6, 228-pound center Eli Lichtenwald in the neutral zone, a clean hit that sent Lichtenwald to the ice, sent a clear message to the Dutchmen that they would have to earn every inch of ice against the Golden Knights. Union was never able to match Clarkson's physical brand of play, nor could it keep up with the Golden Knights' offense that scored a pair of goals early in the first period and knocked off Union 3-1, handing the Dutchmen their first ECAC hockey loss of the season Saturday at Messa Rink.
"When we are on the edge and playing physical, that is when we play our best," Jones said. "It is a double-edged sword to continue to put them on the power play with those lethal players that they have. We wanted to hit them, we wanted to make sure we were above them and didn't want to give them any time and space."
We got our asses kicked, plain and simple. I hope it does not happen again.
