After last season, it's not like many (if any?) of those guys covered themselves in glory, to say the least. Interesting that a few will now be playing D-3 next season, which I suppose tells its own tale. I'll say this ... it's either going to work out amazingly well, or (more likely than not) it will blow up in their faces, leaving UMass ... well, right where they are right now anyway.

In short ... nothing to lose, everything to gain, so a risk worth taking by Coach Carvel. I guess if you're going to go down in flames, might as well do it with your own players, and not someone else's (D-3 level) players.

It's something UNH could well have done, had they brought in someone from the outside. With Souza's fingers all over the recruiting pie at this point for two seasons (one of which he seems to have largely skipped), most of his players when he starts out as HC in 18 months, he'll have had some hand in recruiting.

It'll be interesting to see how these programs (and UConn, with my all time *bestie* as HC) fare going forwards.

True, Snively65 ... but with Coach Calipari - oops, err, Pitino - oops, I mean Quinn - no doubt readying to bring in the next batch of "one and dones" to the Allston Riviera ... will it make any difference? :confused:

Sigh...my thoughts exactly! Just churnin' out one Bruin after another over there these days!!! :rolleyes:

I thought that he played well last night in his 24 minutes, maybe second best D-man on the team right now?

Yeah I thought be played well! It will be interesting to see how he does as they move along. Of course, I'm partial to Torey Krug...;)

So what happens to HR when Krug inevitably decides to "come home" and signs with DRW in the future? :eek: ;)

One thing that will NOT happen is I suddenly become a DRW fan...:eek: (Which is why I have not purchased a Krug B's jersey even tho I desperately want to....sigh)

I was going to say that’s a little like Meg Ryan vs. Melanie Griffith in a beauty contest, a lot more interesting 20 years ago, but realize that’s sexist so I guess I’ll go with Arnold vs. Sly Stallone in a for all the marbles(bags) pose down – a major drop in the polls all around.
