UNH Wildcats 2016 Offseason Thread - Searching for Direction

Re: UNH Wildcats 2016 Offseason Thread - Searching for Direction

I was on the phone with the ticket office today (locked down my tickets and parking for football), and when I asked about hockey, he said the renewal email went out today.

He sending me a few different options of hockey season tix, with different options regarding sections/rows. I'll be joining you, HR, for a few games this year - looking forward to it, and the Libby's pregame

Yes I did get the renewal email today; didn't hear anything about different options (or I didn't see them). Looking forward to it too!!! Also loved the fact that they listed a few things they were implementing from of the surveys ('cept my brillaint idea to park at the Alumni Center a couple of times, harrumph :p) ...it's a start...Oh, and as per the genius' on the board commenting about Nick Sorkin? Seeing how there's only one (he knows who he is, self proclaimed :D ) I'm sure we will hear from him shortly.

And have to add, too, that the scuttlebutt on FB with a few other veteran STH is that they aren't happy with the new system I dunno the story. Initially it took me a few tries to get it straight finally did. Imagine there are bugs to work out. I will say my questions were answered today in a timely manner at least?

EDIT: Speaking of Nick, here's where he stands after two rounds:

Nick Sorkin Rockville, Md. +7 F-NC +1 76 71 147

You rang? :D No, seriously, UNH1932 is on vacation, you may have to wait until Labor Day for his thoughts. ;)

Surprised that one of the "geniuses" hasn't responded to this saying that Sorkin must have learned from Umile while he was golfing instead of out doing his job recruiting!!

Looks like you beat the *geniuses* to the punch (line) there, 'dc. Well done, sir. :)

Oh my. Well, seeing how I can't even spell the plural of genius, which is, geniuses, you know I wasn't talking about me ;)

On another note want to purchase the MSG tix waiting to see what UNH has for blocks/rates. Currently on SticketMaster they give a 100.00 rate for UNH fans (a 70.00 rate for Cornell fans but you can of course, get that 70.00 rate if you sit elsewhere) thinking they are going to give STH's a 'special rate' for this game (as I remember reading)

I'll use my 1000th post to thank you, Chuck - seems like the right thing to do!

Derry News article on former Wildcat Paul Thompson.

Saw Casey Kesselring get a mention as PT's former HS coach. Former Merrimack standout from the late '90's - hadn't heard that name for aeons - good to see he's still in the game. Another thing to love about how HE works.

Kesselring is now coaching at New Hampton School. His son Michael, who's a defenseman, is generating interest from D1 programs.

Doubt that this thread will reach 1000 posts before season begins on October 8th; over/under is 700 posts, and I will take the under.

Yeah, and since it took me almost 15 years to get to 1000 posts, I'm not much help.

I'll do my bit to help...I know some of the you guys follow recruiting closely and there aren't really any Maine fans that do so I have the following question, is the kid who just committed to Maine, Harry Roy, the best commitment Maine has got since Billy Ryan 10+ years ago? He seems to me like a kid most Hockey East schools would offer, but I haven't seen a story that shows what other schools offered him. He's so young its impossible to tell what kind of impact he will have on Maine but his commitment seems like another step in the right direction.

There were other schools watching him closely and ready to offer but most of the top HE schools wanted to see more... He's good but not a game changer. He's too 6 fwd in New Eng for age group, but not in same ballpark as Wise, Wahlstrom, Walsh. I thought he was better than Gould but I'd take Gould over him now. He and Wyatt Schlaht are probably 5-6.

Thanks for posting, HR. I still do not get why CK is not coming to UNH this year; he is 19, and TyK came to Durham as a true freshman at 18. Would have been fun to watch those two play together (and, bicker with one another on the bench).

Totally agree; I was looking forward to seeing that duo out there myself. I could be wrong; think he just needed that additional year to 'beef up' as it were and play in more competitive situation than he was in (here's the part where I'm prob wrong). Seems like he's been trying to get here!!

I ran into Coach Madigan running the Falmouth road race this morning. I resisted the urge to ask him if he would lend us a recruit or two.

For all the "coaches are doing a phenomenal job and we can't expect to keep up with the BCs, BUs, MNs and MIs in recruiting" apologists posts we have to wade through - what I really enjoy is getting lapped on the trail by NU, UConn, PC and now UMass...

......and, AIC!

Today STH's got the 'Frozen Fenway' advanced tix sales (goes on sale to gen. public Sept. 1). Good friend is buying us some soooooo I guess we'll just HAVE to go ;) And of course, I expect plenty of "I told you so's" if (when) I complain about the cold, lousy sight lines, etc.

Does your Sox STH friend pay the surcharge for access to the Royal Rooters Club? If so, I say go for it, HR. The RR Club near the Right Field corner roof is loaded with Red Sox memorabilia on the walls and in display cases, has a bar with better beer options, and most important, is heated!
