UNH Wildcats 2015 Offseason - Future Planning ...or Just Rearranging the Deck Chairs?

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015 Offseason - Future Planning ...or Just Rearranging the Deck Cha

Married thecomicbook guy last year (if any of you guys remember him). He eventually convinced me that since Detroit/Ann Arbor is on the way to California, there was no reason not to stop there for a UNH/Michigan game to kickstart our honeymoon. Keep bugging her and see if she comes around. :p

One of the good guys from way back ... good to see he's broadened his interests (if just slightly) since! :)

That's an AWESOME story.

Well, she tried to convince me that the Iron Bowl was going to take precedence over UNH-Bentley (she being an Auburn grad), but somehow I won that battle. I hope it's on at Libby's so she can at least catch a piece of the beat down I am sure Bama will administer. She can get a few adult beverages in her before the Whitt, too.

That stated, I can't seem to bring her around on an exhibition matchup!

Where are you hiding CBG these days, anyway?? We need the likes of him, Gibber, Cloud9, Snively, etc., to come back and visit more often.

Curious: Has UNH formerly announced our incoming recruiting class? I follow Drew Bonifant of the CM and haven't seen it yet....

I had to chuckle at the "formerly" autocorrect!! An appropriate Freudian slip given that a few of our LOI recruits have become "former" recruits!!

😜

A few college hockey writers are submitting their pre-season polls; have seen 2 where we are...8th. Where we ended up last year with a trip to the Garden for the HE qtrs. but missed out on the Regional..(But one put us at 2nd...but no clue who that writer is but they have 14K followers, must mean somethin' haha) Team starts working out tomorrow from what I heard...Go 'Cats!!

Three in a row? How audacious!

Why stop there, we're just gettin' warmed up. ;) Three weeks and counting til the Exhibition game and then those pesky yellow jackets or whatever you called 'em!!!

Chuck,
Stop mocking Luce Canaan
He is gaining/overtaking us, even without counting Masonius.

Funny you post this as I was JUST going to say how nice it was that we have at least ONE player on that list, with Marcus Vela sliding in...

Congrats Marcus; we'll need his 2 way work ethic.

How much do you figure good ol' Luce paid those nice ISS folks to expand it to the Top 30? :D :p

Interestingly, if they cut the list off at the Top 20, neither UNH nor UConn would figure in it at all.

Actually, it's kinda said that Providence's NC "bump" barely got them onto this list. And whither Union and Yale?

Plus ca change ... plus c'est le meme chose ... :(

Union and Yale were always one-offs.
PC's and UConn recruits for next few years put ours to shame (doesn't help that we lost our top end kids, and Souza and co. are taking their time lining up their own replacements.) Suffice it to say, PC's 5th defenseman in 2018 is currently better than our projected #1. And now U.Conn's two forward recruits for 2017/2018 (Thompson and Elser) are better than anything we have lined up.

Between the Bruins screwing up two easy picks in Matt Barzal and Kyle Connor, and UNH losing Ryczek, Masonius and Farabee, the past 4 months have not been kind to my hockey teams.

Snively65...here's what you are most worried about...but I am more concerned about the D to be honest...feel confident TyK, Pots, Vela will be strong holds not to mention Fogele..and hope this is the year of the Eiserman. I just don't feel that uptight about the offense... Of course remember we had the same thoughts when Goumas, Sorkin et al moved along. I get it that there's a lot of offense missing tho with the graduation of our top line last season. Hopeful and expect the coaches to bring these guys along! Anyway.... this is from Across the Boards:

New Hampshire: Who will fill the void left by departing forwards?

UNH had a strange season in 2014-2015. Although they finished with a record of 19-19-2, the Wildcats managed to knock off the eventual NCAA champion Providence in the Hockey East quarterfinals before falling to BU, 4-1, in the Hockey East semifinals.

UNH succeeded in the playoffs last season because senior forwards Grayson Downing, Matt Willows and Casey Thrush were able to lead the team all season long. Now that these forwards are gone, who will take on that leadership role?

The obvious pick is Tyler Kelleher, who led the Wildcats in scoring with 42 points in 39 games. However, he cannot do it alone. New Hampshire will have a young team this year, but that youth movement will be crucial for its success this year and beyond.

.

Tyce Thompson is not following his brother Tage to UConn. He is going to PC in'18 also

I think that the offensive key will be senior leadership on the third and fourth lines. Balanced line scoring will be the only answer this season. Of course, I agree, the loss of Masonius on the blue line is huge.

Speaking of lines...anyone wanna dare project? I agree; gotta be a balanced attack with a few coming from the blue line. Last season Furgele, Cleland and Marks put up some points from back there. Need more of that. Would love to see Maller have a great year wonder if he got his foot issues taken care of and Chanter..it's your time sir!!
