Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations
Well, the B's are hosting the Canadiens at Gillette during the New Year's holiday weekend, so the rink is going to be there regardless for that event, and perhaps they were looking to expand the "Foxboro hockey weekend" with some D-1 college action while the facility was fitted out for hockey? I'm pretty sure that's what they did when the B's and Flyers played at Fenway a few years ago - I think there were some college hockey games scheduled around that little *party* IIRC?
With the Pats playing Week 16 on the road, they do have a few days to put the rink up. And unless the Pats falter in the last few RS games, they should be able to avoid hosting a playoff game on January 10th ... but even then, they would have twice as much time to deconstruct the rink etc. than it took to put it up. Regardless, the stadium crew down in Foxboro looks to have a busy post-Christmas schedule on their hands.
I do not know what they were thinking of when they scheduled a game at Gillette during football season. Somebody came to their senses as most of us believe the Pats probably think they have more football to play. I prefer Vt indoors to Gillette outdoors.
