I am thankful we are not writing about or having to deal with the current topic on the BU thread.

Is there a cliff notes version of how bad people think the situation is/was?

Smoke but no fire. Yet. Some folks wishing it away, *possibly* whistling past the graveyard, others probably just holding their breath in hopes that it doesn't extend to their program. Lots of unanswered questions, and I suspect we'll only start getting answers if/when the accused professional gamblers in this scenario are faced with jail time. Boston media appears to have let Eichel off yesterday with a "stern tongue bath". I am honestly worried we may have only seen the tip of the iceberg so far ... and if so, I'm hoping said iceberg doesn't extend to Durham. Hoping I'm overreacting, but it's never a good day when gambling charges are discovered in or close to your program. Very concerned.

I think "whistling past the graveyard" is a distinct possibilty! Wouldn't be surprised if the tumor is malignant!

I've confessed before to feeling a little jealous of Providence, who (as well as they played last post-season) were likely going to come up short in the end, but for O'Connor's monster-sized gaffe, and some really bad d-zone coverage after a routine face-off. And now it turns out that some of that stuff ... may have been manufactured? Where to begin, really.

I'll believe it when I see the proof, but the fallout from such a situation would be monstrous.

I'll read the latest BU thread for more info, but with the USCHO article, it seems this is coming to the surface.

"WIS Fun Quiz" with a semi-point to be made today ...

When the Chicago White Sox (a/k/a the "Black Sox" scandal) infamously threw the World Series in 1919 ... which National League team was the beneficiary of their manufactured largesse??

try guessing without looking it up first. I'd say 90% of folks who consider themselves baseball savvy won't know this ...

Rather than reply to Chuck's post on the BU thread about Jack Eichel and the 1919 WS Black Sox scandal (we need more posts on our thread), I note that every MBL commish has rejected the pleas of Shoeless Joe Jackson's family to allow his rightful place in the HOF (I know that the HOF is separate from MLB, but it seems that the commishes determine who may be listed as candidates). Joe hit 0.375 with 12 hits in the 1919 WS, a hit total that was not seen again until Bobby Richardson in the Yankees loss to the Cards in 1964, and Marty Barrett in the Red Sox loss to the Mets in 1986. Although his fellow outfielders who were on the take let several runners take extra bases for runs and triples on fly balls, Shoeless Joe did not, and as the story goes he left his $1000 bribe on the table. My favorite baseball movie related to Shoeless Joe remains 'Field of Dreams.'

After listening to the BC--OSU game tonight, which included 5-min majors assessed to each team, I got curious about how many teams have not been tagged with majors this season, and came up with only three, one being our own SMTs. The other two do not include Bentley.

College Hockey -- UNH-Maine: Twice more, with feeling:
http://www.unionleader.com/article/20151229/SPORTS22/151229228#sthash.iQMudiLX.dpuf

Umile said after this season Maine and UNH will play one non-league game against each other every season. Next year’s game will be played in Manchester... Umile said UNH’s 2016-17 schedule includes a home game against Arizona State. The Wildcats will play at Arizona State the following season. He also said UNH is tentatively scheduled to play Cornell at Madison Square Garden in New York next season, and may also play a game at Fenway Park.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

So, Jordan Masters coming to play at the Whitt?

Fenway Park: ugh.

Thanks, Mike. Helps makeup for my not getting to Portland this evening.

I am really pleased that Correale is burying his shots at the back of the net this season. I know that there is no way that this line can be split up, but sure would be great to find a second scoring line in the second half; maybe it will be the all-frosh line, if they can stay healthy.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Makes the RPI game even more critical to get some confidence going into a six game stretch (Bentley, Maine, Maine, Dartmouth, Maine & Maine) where 5-1-0 should be the minimum expectation. While they should be clear favorites over that six-game stretch, executing and winning at least five games will be critical for this team's post-season hopes and psyche...

Win tomorrow and they exceed my goal for this six-game stretch, even a loss would put them just one point off the pace. Regardless, lets all just cross are fingers for 2+ point nights from The Hobeys...

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

UNH now tied for 28th in PWR; as of tonight, BC would be out, and NICC fourth HEA team in, behind PC, BU, and UML. And, EZAC would have five teams in.

Fingers crossed! I would think they would want a stronger game tonight and not let Maine back in the game. I'm doubting however the Verizon will have the energy the BB fans had last night?!? (Which wasn't evident really until the end of the third).
Thanks Snively65 for the pairwise update wow what has happened to BC? Should be interesting down the stretch...

Dang e.cat I prob will miss that unless I find a way to get to my friends house and go up with them...would love to hang out prior!! Ooops we don't want this board to look like Facebook my bad.:D

Did ya see this article 'bout TvR? Awesome. So glad I have NHL game center (but of course I do....;) ) to watch him and other UNH alum play in the N...
