UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

Sometimes I just love the give and take on this board. :D

Personally, I kind of like the turn this thread has taken. It reminds me of the old days when UNH fans were a feisty bunch and not so passive. Only thing is now we are fighting amongst ourselves as opposed to BC, BU and Maine fans. Oh well, at least we'll be battle tested if we ever get back to that point. :)

I know, right? In all honesty Chuck thanks for the B's synopsis...hear the commiserating from here! I'd like to say that once again I think the regs on this board have a deep abiding attachment (if that's the word) to the 'Cats and really want to see them succeed. Everyone here contributes to the culture of this board in their own way and like Gregg asked, civility is always hoped for. I mean, we have to stick together on this we are in it for the long haul!! I have learned sooo much for you guys that I can almost, almost see myself from going from 'pom pom' fangirl (and I don't have one at the moment, honest) to knowledgeable fan thanks to the info here. (Shameless plug what do you expect from a Bruins fan???) Also want to add it felt good to add a new recruit today!!

Anyhoo warmer weather is coming our way and those of us who want to can drown our sorrows in yet SOME OTHER TEAM'S quest for a cup. Go 'BHawks!!

On another note, as the NHL playoffs begin, how many UNH'ers are out there in their respective teams? I got TvR for the 'BHawks, and Daniel Winnick for the 'Caps...anyone else?

Since this thread has morphed into a Bruins' forum I just wanted to make sure you are all aware of the Leaman chatter among the beat guys. I'm sure Chuck thinks it should be Bazin :D

Leaman or Bazin trying to coach these overpaid, prime donna, crybaby losers? Good luck!

ooops...I'm sorry! Just not too much else to discuss and I'll desist :D BUT, since you brought it up...have read that and listening to WEEI wonder if a college coach can handle that crowd, even a great like Leaman or Bazin...have they fired the guy yet? (claude, that is...) Seems Dave Hakstol (sp) is doing pretty well with the Flyers...

Flyers the anti-Bruins, with underpaid, hard-working, overachieving pluggers.

No, not at all ... Coach Bazin either for UNH, or a big move to DRW when Yzerman takes over the GM role. :D

:(:(:(

There actually are a couple of NHL issues that I've been thinking could impact the college game, so I guess here is as good a place as any to discuss:

1 - How might the Jimmy Vesey situation affect things moving forward? If he doesn't sign with Nashville and chooses to become a FA I would think that in the future no team is going to allow themselves to be put in that situation, and will make every attempt to sign any decent draft pick after their junior season. The number of players we are talking about is probably a small one, as it would only impact drafted players who show alot of upside. Still, I can't help but think that it makes the chances of seeing good players staying four years that much smaller.

2 - (And I was thinking of this before all the Leaman to the Bruins chatter,) Does Hakstol's success in Philadelphia lead to more NHL teams taking a look at college coaches? After all, most professional leagues are copy cat in nature and you have to wonder if some clubs will go this route rather than simply hire a retread. If so, what coaches in the NCAA might fit the bill?

Funny you mention the Veasy situation; he's hopefully gonna become a Bruin!! Nashville ain't too happy with his decision not to sign. He's pulling a 'Kevin Hayes' kind of thing. I was thinking that wow, these players leaving after one year, the Eichels, Hanafins, now Kyle Connor and most recently Pots for us; this is going to be come a landslide IMO. I'm surprised Matt Grizz stayed as long as he did with BU (4 seasons) but bet that had alot to do with his knee stuff but I know nothing about his career.. Gone are the days you had a strong core stay with; making recruiting good, all around players, a must...

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

Has anyone figured out yet that .... "May you live in interesting times" ... is a Chinese curse. And actually translates into something like .... "May you experience much disorder and trouble in your life."

Things are bad enough without having a thread with the title ..... "Living in interesting times." :-)
