UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

Has anyone figured out yet that .... "May you live in interesting times" ... is a Chinese curse. And actually translates into something like .... "May you experience much disorder and trouble in your life."

Things are bad enough without having a thread with the title ..... "Living in interesting times." :-)

Well you know it as well as I do what you say...you are! Time for some fresh sage and lots of it..

However on the bright side, at over 900 posts this thread is almost done.

Chuck, have you got the offseason thread titled and ready?

I don't want to step on your toes, partner, but if you don't, I think I have the perfect title in mind

Should give this thread a proper burial with 1000 posts first?

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

Funny you mention the Veasy situation; he's hopefully gonna become a Bruin!!

Smart money is on a move to TML, and an early chance to get in on the ground floor of the Babcock revolution.

Guessing there aren't too many "atta boys" coming at TvR after last night's OT game-winner ... for St. Louis. :o

I thought that was kind of apropos at the time it was launched, no? No shortage of trouble and disorder in the program over the last few months (dating back at least to when Foegele quit on his teammates), and seemingly continuing right up to the present at breakneck speed, with several hints that there's more to come. Still a few interesting cards left to be turned/played in the coming weeks/months, which were outlined in the original post. Speaking of which ...

I think it would probably be best for you to shine up your offseason thread title and concept and run with it, Felgie. The last time around, yours truly caught some flak for posting this thread a day or so "early" (I think its predecessor was at least in the 980's if not 990's?) and there were some silly insinuations about how I'd supposedly "thrown a tantrum" the last time when someone else posted one around the same time. It's probably contained in the first few posts on this thread. Anyway, I've got nothing planned this time around, and so long as you work Coach Bazin into the content in a favorable way :) I'll be happy to step aside and get behind your offseason thread later this month.

p.s. - i'm shocked  at the insensitivity of some posters, referring to your hockey-deficient competition across the street. shocked  AND dismayed :( tbh.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

Sounds like we will hear tomorrow at 10 that Claude will be staying?

Claude staying on, but replacing long time assistant Houda. Am guessing they are going to hire a brand new assistant with the plan that he will be Claude's replacement in three years.

So Sacco stays in place? Sounds familiar, this replacement model...:D I'm glad personally they didn't can him...but wouldn't have been surprised with the mentality out there. Still, the Marchand on the bench thingy...

I agree. I think the problem with the team is that they lacked a lot of the core glue guys, so am glad that they can bring Kelly, McQuaid and Miller back. Fill in with some more grit guys who make them hard to play against, like Rinaldo, and get rid of a lot of the floaters, like Dougie Hamilton and Tyler Seguin, and they'll be on the road to a fast rebuild.
And with top management like Cam Neely and Don Sweeney making the hard calls, like keeping Louie Ericksson rather than doing the easy thing of selling him off at the deadline, and making good personnel calls, like avoiding guys who lack jam, like Matthew Barzal and Kyle Connor, and they are well on their way.

So many similarities between the B's and Cats; feels like The Twilght Zone, deja vu, all over again, kicking the dead horse, etc, etc, sigh.

Oh I get it , you're being snarky ;) Who knew? Personally agree with your assessment, rife with sarcasm, about the people they've let go (and kept, Ericksson will be gone this summer) and who they've built the team around...but I still didn't fully support canning Claude.

Well me and another B's / 'Cat fan spent most of the winter lamenting this very fact...was sooo similiar, too similiar!

Good catch, HR. :) I had to smile in reading 'Watcher's assessment - he's still in midseason form.

Then I remembered my team is trying to win a Stanley Cup with a Calder Cup line-up, and a wanna-be Babcock clone behind the bench. :o

Assuming DRW lose early in the playoffs, I'm rooting for a TB-Dallas Stanley Cup Finals, pitting Kenny Holland's two GM protégés, Steve Yzerman against Jim Nill. And dollars to donuts, DRW owner Mike Ilitch is still so fixated on his District Detroit legacy project that he somehow still won't notice that there may be no competitive playoffs team left once he opens his brand new palace season after next. :( :(

Claude wants to stay and "turn things around." Hmmm, have we heard that before?

Well Chuck you know what they say even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then haha (had to read it twice tho :D). Whoosh indeed :p Oh fear not Chuck it will all be over soon but maybe your DRW make it at least interesting. Prob Dylan L will win rookie of the year!! At least your team is still skatin'!!

Two former Black Bear goalies facing off in DRW-TB series.

Trivia question: who were the only two NHL teams that gave up more goals than they scored this past season?

That's pretty cool! Well I'm guessing, without actually looking it up, that it's the Sens and the Leafs? or, maybe the Oilers?
