Non descript first period getting out shot 12 - 5. 'Mack more opps right in front. DT makes some decent saves. A few other things but really not worth getting into...

Driiiive home safely, Mac fans!

haha thought about getting that going in our section...Glad to see us play a decent (enough) game with Vela being named #1 star for the night. DT gets #2 as he stood on his head with 45 saves as we were once again outshot at Lawler like the last game played there. Lots of 'juicy' rebounds tho so we got lucky on some of that. Well this will prob. go 3 (hope it goes 2 really don't feel like pulling a Sunday night down there). FWIW dept despite the basic feelings about this tournament, a win's a win. I'll take it. Made for a bearable ride home at least!

Here's the HE side of things:

ps You were right Chuck; the 'Hawks were too tired counting their goals from the night before as the B's handled them easily.

TvR played over 20 minutes on second blueline pair.

What do the Warriors and Hawks have in common?

Ugh...he (TvR) must have quite the numbers this morning after that one! I dunno...need a hint this too early morning after getting home so late. Has to do with their team name, warriors/bhawks? EDIT: TvR is 0 for the night..Patrick Kane, however, -3.

Both are historically also-rans in their respective leagues for most of their histories (CBH until '10). :D

Not wanting to get ahead of things, especially with this season's 'cats, but the boys did what they had to do last night and are in prime position. (((If))) they manage to get past 'mack then last weekend's performance will haunt them. Not that any of the 4 bye teams are easy to play, but assuming BU and NU hold serve, we draw BC.

Appears to have been another great effort by Tirone in net? He needs more help out there.

Yes it was a great effort again for DT . Pots lost his stick in the OT which made for a weird moment and blam. Couple of OT penalties...Felt the guys played hard tonight. Mike Babcock was in the stands watching Mike jr. Bonus got to see BvR playing briefly in the other rink. Got a tix for Sun but just don't know...lots going on this weekend. Well go 'Cats!

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Three) - Living in Interesting Times

OK, yours truly managed to get back into town tonight just in time to veer off Rte. 495 on the way home to catch the end of the game. Kudos to the folks at the Merrimack box office for giving me a pass to catch the 3rd period - and some bonus time in OT - gratis. :) In return, I shall not further defame your sorry excuse for a D-1 arena further. :p I've been away so long ... it was the first time I entered the "complex" through the new entrance at the front. Lost my bearings upon arrival, and ended up walking 3/4's of the way around the rink to sit amidst most of the UNH fans. Without the old Expos' hat and another 10 or so years older, it was nice to be incognito. :)

So enough with the fluff ... what I saw out there for the final period and a half almost made me physically ill.

I am going to take some wise advice that my elders passed along to me many moons ago, and hold my peace for the evening, and see how things look/feel on further reflection tomorrow a.m.

But if it's anywhere near what I'm feeling right now about what I saw out there ... there are some sacred cows who are going to get a roasting, and some folks on here are probably going to hate me (more) for it for awhile.

Having said that ... I'm almost despondent seeing HR's post that former DRW Stanley Cup winning head coach Mike "Big Red" Babcock was in the house, and I somehow missed out. And you folks think I have a man crush on Bazin? Heh heh, it might be the "B" thing, as the list of my favorite hockey coaches certainly includes Bowman, Babcock AND Bazin. :) :) :) Maybe someday Borisenok or some other UNH "B" will take their rightful place (sorry Richie, Stewie and Souza) alongside that trio. It's always the guy after the guy who comes after THE guy anyway. Umile-Kullen-Holt ... B????-Souza-Umile.

Yeah, I've gone on for far too long tonight. Anyway, season's done after Sunday, sorry to say. :(

Some of these well-noted points will feature further in tomorrow's potential post. Coming attractions/teaser ...
