It's a classless move, especially waiting to the day before, when the band had already traveled to MC for Friday's game.

It's classless for UNH to deny Clarky's band, in accordance with their conference's rules, just because Clarky stated their intention to come?

How about, ask permission instead of assuming, and then decide if you want to ship the band out just to Lawler?

UNH could have told them a month ago but instead waited until Friday to tell them they were being denied entry. For all I care, I hope we never schedule with UNH again after next year's commitment.

Seemed to help the Bruins last night....Anyway...you are right. We cannot expect to win games coming from behind. It's a nice thing to be able to do, once in awhile, but with our daunting schedule just isn't gonna work and I would suspect/expect, the team knows that too. Giving Clarky the start last night might have been a good thing, I mean, what the heck. Onto Umass..and the Dutchmen.

'Watcher: rather than copy your post I will just say it does gives me some perspective. I do believe this team has talent and am more inclined to follow Snively's ideas that next year will be a better year. That being said heck the season is still young and while I don't think we have it in us to crack the top 16 we will win some games. Now I know not to wait and watch for the recruits I keep seeing from other teams perhaps. Our pipeline was filled with the 10 who are now sophomores and Nonis/BvR/Robinson/Kelleher (along with other talented kids I read from Mike's blog) join our ranks.

Your poem/song made me think of my own teaching career...oh my. Well, not quite...but give me 3 years when I turn 60 ;) or on some Friday afternoons when I wonder if I can indeed return Monday...

Yeah glad the B's got another W. Good fight too with two former HEA combatants, Miller and Vitale. I'm expecting a Patriot bashing of Indy tonight too and hope they run up the score per Brady's father:D

Absolutely go Pats!! Hope Brady kills it out there.

Cool, and much appreciated. Honestly still waiting for the Hockey AA crew to come up with truly compelling insights into the game. I've said before, and I'll say it again ... the less stoppages in your game, the less measurable it is for the AA crowd. Baseball first, football and hoops comfortably behind but in the mix ... and with hockey and soccer far removed from the pocket protector brigade IMO. No wonder those last two are my two favorite sports. :) :)

You've got soccer ahead of football!? Nothing like those 0-0 ties! Gotta love it! Not!

Men's soccer has too much diving, flopping, and whining for my tastes; women's soccer seems better to me, with less of the above.

But, back to SOG, explain me this, how Bentley got outshot by roughly 80 to 30 over the weekend by NU, but Bentley won both games.

Finally, against Clarkson, the team whose band was not allowed to play, only four Cats had a +1 on the night: Eiserman, Hill, Nazarian, and Quast. Play them more! And, Clark!

Out of the mouth of a rookie D who has brought a lot to the 'Cats so far, Matt Dawson:

I don’t think there’s any panic right now,” Dawson said. “It’s super early in the season.”

And..

“I think we’ve got to look at the positives,” Dawson said. “Battling back shows our character. I think closing it out will come later in the year.”

atta boy. Keep up the good work and spread it around while you're at it ;) !!!

U mad bro? Jeez, get over it. I can't remember ever seeing the opposing band play at a regular season game at various HEA rinks.

That's crazy! I!d argue that Argue, the Bentley goalie, stood on his head cuz it sure sounds like the Huskies threw everything at him including the proverbial the kitchen sink!

Soccer would be more appealing to me if there was more scoring. Changing the offside rules might help but my soccer playing son says no on that! There must be an "advanced metric" with soccer which may explain the scoring dilemma but I have no idea what it might be. Maybe it has something to do with putting more shots on goal!

He should consult with the Seniors and Juniors who've experienced the last two slow start seasons. There are different ways to look at panic. We don't need to be skating around like someone just yelled "fire" in a crowded theater, but a serious sense of urgency is in order or Matt will be the 'cats version of Henry Owens.

Man... Watcher certainly ate his Wheaties before getting some of those posts in this weekend. Kudos to Chuck for point out the Rush lyrics, I hadn't caught that.

You've got soccer ahead of football!? Nothing like those 0-0 ties! Gotta love it! Not!

Not to get too far afield here ... but modern-day football (the North American version) just bores me to tears these days. Honestly, it's just an endless series of 5 yard passes, penalty flags galore if the hit is even marginally off-target or off-time, and endless replays and reviews. You would think the teams are playing to determine the status of the free world, ferchrissakes. It's a freaking game, I can live with a few minor officiating errors, the game was OK without the serial stoppages for decades before it became so GD important to sweat over where the ball is marked, was this possession or not, did we miss a few seconds, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum. Throw in the endless commercials breaking up the pace of the game, rules being changed each and every season - and sometimes in midseason  - to try to help the offense (when was the last time the NFL changed a rule in favor of defense - is setting receiver "picks" fair?), and now the omnipresent idiocy of fantasy football crapola, which (not coincidentally) has gone hand-in-hand with the emphasis on offense/scoring.

I played (and used to love) football, but the game they're playing nowadays bears no resemblance to the football I played and loved. So I've moved on. Soccer is not without its own issues (it's probably a close 3rd in concussion issues behind football and rugby, and diving and FIFA corruption do not help things either) but at least I know I'm going to be watching a game that flows, is not over-scripted and/or overregulated, and I won't be subjected to inane advanced analytics/fantasy *discussions* in the pre-game intros.

Bringing this back to hockey for a bit ... I saw an NHL game this weekend on TV where a goal was "challenged" by the opposition for an allegedly missed offsides call. They ran the replay at least a half-dozen times (it was THAT close), and the game stopped for about 5 minutes. The goal stood ... but if this is the direction hockey is going to be taking in the future, I hope they decide against it, really I do.

Offsides - in both hockey and soccer - at its roots is an anti-goal-hanging rule, although it is different in both sports. I think your games are 100% fine f you can trust your officials to get the obvious calls right, and live with a few minor (razor thin) misses, since the close calls are usually so close, they don't violate the spirit of the game.

And as a final Monday morning ****** point ... the fact that what Tom Brady's father thinks about the Colts has been a media issue this past week tells you all you need to know about what is wrong with social media's incursion into the sports world. Can't TB12 have a word with his dad (like he presumably did with the since-blessedly-silent Gisele a few years ago) and ask him to keep his thoughts to himself? Is Dad pimping for an appearance on the Kardashians, or whatever???

'Watcher's dissertation on the Platonic (?) theory behind the lyrics also wandered later into topics/theories that probably sounded familiar to fans of the "Hemispheres" album. Didn't get too much philosophy during my time at Bentley, so this was all enlightening and made for an entertaining weekend morning read - especially coming off two losses. :) :(

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part One) - Return of the "Champions of December"??

+1, Chuck.

College football has a better flow than the NFL. Better rules (1st down > place ball > start clock) , less (no?) replay, far fewer artificial timeouts (no 2 minute warning). Soccer is fun to watch with running time and essentially 3 or 4 rules.

While we are on the artificial timeout subject, what's up with the contrived clear the ice from the bench and crease areas timeout this year? Whitt/HEA/NCAA policy?

With the post weekend gloom lifting, kudos to those in charge for continuing to refine the video board usage. The old player intro is working its way back. Next up, replacing that Wildcat logo thingy with something meaningful. Game highlights, statistics, out of town scores?

I think he's being realistic; there IS no need to panic...and it IS early in the season. The kid has scored a couple of early season goals and I don't think anyone expected that from him being a 3rd/4th line D coming in adjusting to NCAA. Kudos!!

Anyhoo... The 'Cats want/need to play with a sense of urgency for the full 60 minutes. Is this 'perfect world' in hockey? That's how SLU and Clarkson (my view) did esp SLU Friday night. Shoot, I had missed the HE guys predictions; looked today and they had us winning (and sizable too) both nights AND yep I know they can be wrong.

I don't know what I expected; I knew SLU would be tough and had so so feelings about Clarkson (esp after seeing the Merrimack score). Missed the 1st period Friday but when I got there at the start of the 2nd, the 'Whitt was like a morgue. I found out why. ;) Awesome we came back the way we did...that has to speak for something but not the "modus operandi" we want for the year. But I suppose when you come back and win...that's a different story.

Agree; doesn't need / shouldn't be wasted energy...I think that's their goal...get it going early, and sustain it. That...is a learned trait not sure it comes necessarily natural (terrible choice of words but you get it). Looking to see that this coming weekend.

No clue who Henry is...will look him up :o Enough of my Monday morning qtr. backing. So much for a Pats blow out e.cat haha

ps..OH I get it...yes, he should have a chat with those Seniors... ;)

Young promising Redsox pitcher. Someone to watch and look forward to next year as the Redsox finished the season playing well after being virtually out of post season contention at the season's mid point.
