I'm pretty sure my emotions will tilt for BC once the game starts, they are HEA after all. Also internet trolls give real trolls a bad name and must be stopped.

I usually ignore him (her) but what I don't get is the bitterness still. UNH wanted the kid to play one more year of juniors, he and his handlers got miffed and basically said "we'll show you." As I recall, the prediction was that the kid had several offers in his pocket and would be skating D1 the following year, proof that UNH was wrong in its evaluation. So what happened? He decides on Union. Nothing wrong with that. But, hold on, they want him to play another year of juniors as well. So how is it that UNH was proved wrong? Both schools had him pegged as a two year junior player. If he had played this year at UNH, who knows, he might have put up the same numbers as he did at Union. Or maybe not. But regardless, why the constant dig at UNH, even academically? After all, it was the kid's first choice was it not?

Re: UNH Wildcats 2014 Post-Season Thread: "Maybe Dick" Hunts the Great White Whale

instead of moaning that Ayers is not on your bench, moan that Vechionne isnt.
Had 30 pts, all rookie team, first line center
all this with a lengthy out of line up with mono

would be a 150+ point guy
better than any F unh had this year or next.as freshmen

I know, you hsve sll these blue chippers coming in but they must have been hiding when a depleated Union came there and easily took both gms. Even after coach and captains called out and challenged team before sst night gm

Ah yes, the Saugus Blowhard is back! I thought maybe Mike had told you to "shut the %#@& up" and stop embarassing him, but I knew you couldn't help yourself.

By the way, since I am a Massachusetts taxpayer, I hope you are not posting here while you are on the clock at the jail. Not the way I want to see my tax dollars spent.

Personally, this is a hard one coz I am sort of the ABBBC (Chuck do I have that right? ) thinking. And I do feel loyalty to HE is important; sure do think the Eagles are an exceptional hockey team. That said, can't help but think back to the Union/ UNH game where we lost TvR..Jan. 18. I know stuff happens in hockey but that weekend I (and I know this was mentioned by someone else on this board) felt that TvR was getting the worst of it IMHO. And the team ('Cats) rallied big time for the rest of the season and for that they should be proud (play of Pesce especially!!) Truth be told, tho...I think Union is an excellent team who plays with a lot of discipline and they work hard. It's going to be a great match!

Greg thanks for this insight into the UNH Club Cats program. That's all we are asking for; recognition for this accomplishment. I'm so glad these guys get to continue to play the game they love at a decent level of competition. How many home games did I go to this year at the 'Whitt where they brought this group and that out onto the ice at half time to be recognized. Don't think it would be asking too much for the same for these guys.

PS: For Eric Knodel fans here's an article about his Pro debut with the Marlies:

Hey "former managing director at a 'Forbes 50'"... When are you going to accept my challenge??? Or are you just going to ignore it blissfully while while defacing our thread with your horrendous spelling and grammar-free posts?

You've been exposed as a fraud, and every one of your stumbles into the friendly confines of our thread provides bouts of hysterical laughter for our crew.

Now stop using state resources (your HP desktop with dial-up) to bother us, pick up the plunger and get back to work!! Those cell toilets won't unclog themselves!!

Might add don't forget to change the urinal cakes.

The official WIS position has migrated this season from ABBC (Anybody But Boston College) to ABBCAND ( ... And Notre Dame). ;)

Of course, now that the "Greatest 8th Place Team of All Time" has been exposed as the postseason frauds they always were, we can use the old acronym for the next week-and-a-half. :D

Re: UNH Wildcats 2014 Post-Season Thread: "Maybe Dick" Hunts the Great White Whale

If we start with my premise that nobody new gets "the" trophy until UNH does with the exception of teams so long suffering that you might have forgotten they don't have a title long-long ago anyway (looking at Minn-Duluth couple years back and even a little Yale last year) which of the rich do you root for to get richer?

BC - going for their 6th title and 5th since 2000, plus they are a H.E. school plus Jerry York just seems a class act, plus Mike Ayers is on the staff, minus they are BC and hence have BC fans, minus 3 titles in 5 years! minus the rest of us need this little run to end so there is some balance again

Minnesota - going for their 6th title, plus it has been a decade since they won one - so someone sort of new, minus they are the goofers, minus big ten idiot chest thumping - winning a title first year as a league

UND - going for their 8th title, plus it has been a decade since they won one - so someone sort of new, plus they would definitely keep Hakstol and they have not been as good with him, plus they don't wear maroon and gold, plus they will be referred to as the Fight Sioux no matter what the NCAA does which is just fun, minus NCHC chest thumping when that league has pretty much sucked this year - winning a title first year as a league

Love the analysis. HANDS DOWN, NoDak - I'll add the "drill, baby, drill", "frack away" nature of their booming economy to the plus side. You have trailer park developments with higher per/sf prices than half of Northern New England.

Golden Rodent fans are insufferable enough when they AREN'T winning titles. :)

BC's 14 year scourge is a "little run"? Everyone should be so lucky to have one of those.

Pulling for BC against Union, then the winner of No Dak - Gophers in the final.

Rooting for the Sioux all they way, anticipating a BC/MN final with BC winning.

This is what I mean about "they are BC and hence have BC fans". It hasn't been 14 years. In reality the current run started in either 2005 or 2008 depending on how you want to argue it. there was a 98 to 01 run and a short gap before to the current state or pattern has developed.

Also in that category Minn, UND, Wisco, MTU, Denver, Michigan have all had runs like this.

I will go with Nodak, as I like their fans. At the 2008 FF in Denver, Nodak had been bludgeoned 6-1 by BC in the semi's, but their fans were still there two days later trying to energize the Notre Dame fans as their team lost the NC game 4-1 to BC. The Nodak fans were also famous for cheering on Holy Cross to their win over the Gophers at the NCAA regional in Grand Forks a few years ago. ABBCAG = Anyone but BC and Gophers. And, I am still ticked at Union for ending TvR's career at UNH. Finally, the urinal cake posting above reminded me of Mike Radja and his Nodak buddy TJ Oshie, who beat the Russians in Sochi earlier this winter, when they got busted for the elevator incident.

6 Frozen Four appearances in the last 9 years and 3 titles since 2008 in an era where the NHL and Major Junior poaches top players regularly is pretty impressive in my book. Don't remember those programs you mentioned having success like this in an era such as this.

This BC run started in 1998. Since then they have not gone more thn 2 straight years without a FF appearance.
