Re: UNH Wildcats 2014/2015 - Wait 'Til Next Year!!!

I watched a replay of the game and it looks like Correale's arm / elbow was coming up when he made contact with the NU player's head as he skated by. That's probably why the refs gave the 5 minutes. Kind of a strange call.

Some clarification on the major call the other night. It looks like there was a rule put in place this season for a 5 minute interference penalty for blindside hits. Ii appears Correale got called for a blindside hit not contact to the head.

Major penalty for interference: To assist officials in properly penalizing significant contact – particularly blindside hits – that is not to the head or neck area, the panel approved the addition of a major penalty for interference.

TvR injury update: moved to LTI, out for "months" (one twitter report) and "awhile" (Coach Q). That's a shame...left leg injury / lower body but haven't heard any other details.

Odd page naming scheme, can only imagine it's to score search engine results? casey-desmith-removed-from-unh-hockey-team-dick-umile-domestic-violence-assault-and-battery

hmm..very interesting indeed. Well what's done is done. We move on. So does the team. Gives some closure of sorts, at least, from the team point of view. Will continue to throw full support behind Clarky (and Jamie, and perhaps, Danny?) Eyes forward and, Onward 'Cats!!!

EGOL has officially flown the coop. No doubt flying south for the winter, to a tropical destination in the ECHL.

Another good 30 for 30 (short version, like 10 minutes)... Google John Wensink 30 for 30 short. Classic

Great story wildcatdc. I remember Wensink. Classic T- Stop! Of course I took note of the UNH connection with the Jay Miller commentary:)

Blackhawks announce TvR's injury : fracture of the left patella surgery tomorrow out 3-4 months....ouch!😳

Real bummer for TvR; may he make a full recovery and come back even stronger in pursuit of a NHL career. One irony is that a lot of collegiate athletes leave school early in part to avoid risk of injury before they have a chance to pursue a professional career. But, I wonder if that extra year or two at Div 1 might make them stronger emotionally and physically before going pro? Yes, I realize that most collegiate Div 1 hockey players are already a couple or more years older than their fellow students when they arrive on campus.

Was actually watching the game and you could see the pain he was in right away... Guess injury is part of the game, sigh. Being the selfish lot we are yeah wish he had stayed but some birds aren't meant to be caged. (Shawshank reference😉 )

Re: UNH Wildcats 2014/2015 - Wait 'Til Next Year!!!

Prediction time. Hard to say, not having seen them lately, but we've had some strong finishes and the team vibe seems good so I'll say a hard earned weekend split. Friars taking 3/4 points would not surprise me. UNH doing so would.

Longer term I think we end up with playoff 1st round home ice, win the series and also the next one (proof of why I do not bet $ignificantly on sporting contests) advancing to the Garden where we lose in the semis. We don't qualify for the NCAAs, but by season's end are a team no one wants to play. Similar to last year with the big difference being we have swung to an up trend for the next few years.

I think a lot depends on whether we can figure out how to score on the PP, as otherwise teams are going to beat up our team all season long, take away odd man rushes with hooking penalties, etc.

Think the 'Cats are gonna have their hands full this weekend as PC just might have last year's HE game in the back of their mind...but also think it will or could depend on just what Jon Gilles brings to the rink. Love to get some points here but they will be hard earned.
Long term like you we could surprise down the stretch and even now I wouldn't want to look past the 'Cats. I'm sure PC coach Nate Leaman has made that quite clear to his team. A well skilled bunch those Friars are...

On the latest UNH presser Coach U talks a lot about this angle of the game and that they have been working hard at it..he also reminisces about his fab D pair of last season (Big K and TvR) but we all know this is a new era...of Pesce / Furgele ?
