Chalk it up to a Tuesday night game against a non league opponent. You will find that in most college arenas on those random Tuesday night games. The students won't really come except the hardcore fans.

I try not to troll on threads (wink wink!) but that's pretty accurate. Plus, judging from the Brown fans, the Bears being a decent team isn't information that has made it to Brown yet.

The students are too busy trying to devise a chemical repellent for Ray Kelly to give a hoot about some sportsball team.

Sounds like UNH was simply the better team last night, which isn't exactly surprising. Still, I was expecting a better effort from Brown than being outshot by 15.

Haven't you heard? SOG is a meaningless stat:rolleyes:;) Although, I agree. 41-26 SOG is an impressive meaningless stat:eek:

I'm hearing that a new theoretical model is emanating from one of the Peter Paul school's stats classes... apparently, GOAL DiFFERENTIAL has nearly 100% predictive value in determining a game's outcome. More study is required.

On another note, I'm not so upset at being 1-4-1 against the top 16. (1-2-2 in NHL terms, I think). Shame we can't get credit for quality losses. That stated, we could use a sweep or two in the BC, PC, ND series.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2013-14 Season Thread

I'd be happy if the home team holds serve - until Saturday. ;)

Question: Is Channel 11 doing the UNH home games this season, specifically this weekend?

I do not think that Ch 11 has televised games in years; too much competition from talk shows?

WBIN, ch 35 out of Derry, and FCS. Direct TV, are televising a few games, but apparently not this weekend.

Keep up the good work. :)

UNH for the sweep this weekend, and then let's see how they navigate the next upcoming tough stretch to finish Apertura 2013. :D

Go through UNH's archived schedules from the late 90's through mid-2000's at HockeyEastOnline.com, for Monday and Wednesday games, even on January 3rd when the students were presumably on break, the building is usually within 800 or so of a sellout both against conference and non-conference opponents. Heck, in 2005 UNH played Boston College in Manchester mid-week and drew 8,411. It's not until 2008 against Holy Cross that the mid-week attendances reach the levels we see now, and that coincides with an overall fall in attendance around the same time. Of course, these numbers don't tell us what student attendance was at those games, but it's probably a pretty safe assumption that if the building was at or near full for non-break games then the student section likely was as well.

How about if your coach is pushing 70 and has never won a title in 30 years, what is the predictive value that he will eventually win one if he sticks around until he drops? ;)

Check the Northeastern Univ website .... I think they have a free video feed on the Friday game ........

Ya and maybe they could they tell us how often the team that outscores their opponent actually wins the game:eek::D

On another note, is the Whittemore School and the Peter Paul School one and the same? I went to the Whittemore School. Do I now say I went to the Peter Paul School instead?

Whittemore is now the Peter T. Paul School College of Business and Economics. Having gone to Whittemore, I always reference having graduated from WSBE/PTP in things like bios, resumes, LinkedIn, etc.
