Re: UNH Wildcats 2013-14 Season Thread

Any reason why they don't play 'rock n roll part II' anymore when they score? I know the band plays a version but the real one.

I think it coincided with some legal issues that arose involving the artist who sang the original (Gary Glitter). I'll leave it at that.

It got shut off before play resumed. I'm sure someone was in trouble over it.

That would be sad and unfortunate ... but I have to admit the same thought crossed my mind. :(

You might be right but Glitter's legal issues dated back to the 1990's and they only stopped playing the song a few years back as I recall. You're probably right but there was quite a delay between his legal problems and when they stopped playing the song.

Or we just liked it better when the band played it. It was just to involve the band more. They almost pulled the band doing it at first but we liked it so we pushed for it.

Understood - there was no doubt an earlier onset of the issues, but my recollection at the time was the latest "flare-up" of his issues roughly co-incided with the disappearance of the original version. Not that I really care one way or another ... I'm fine with how the band has taken it on since.

I'm all for having the band more involved, especially in place of recorded music over the PA system. The only exception I've ever had was their being directed to play over the traditional pre-game *welcome* the fans used to direct at the opposition's starting line-up.

Ya even the band wasn't a fan of it but the AD forced them into it.

Nothing a little civil disobedience wouldn't take care of. :D

Just a thought, maybe the AD should be focused on more important issues ...

Nice job cats. Willows with some sweet goals. DeSmith with a couple of grade A stops to keep it close before UNH got uncorked offensively:) Even though UNH really didn't get going until 13:46 in the third, I never felt nervous about the outcome. Maybe it's because they were getting outshot up until that point. Having to deal with back to back 5 on threes didn't help the shot totals much;)

Yeah great job coming out of that penalty funk and scoring some big goals to put it away! Goumas has to be one of the most unselfish players he gets the job done great weekend he had..that line rocks! Keep it rolling 'Cats!

Agree 100% regarding Goumas. He made some very nice plays this weekend setting up guys. Team player for sure. Let's keep it rolling against the Dartmouth fka Indians, aka Big Green;)

Goumas was on pace to be a Hobey candidate the first half last year. Better to finish strong second half this year. So, why all the penalties late in second and early third to the Skating Mother Teresa's? Beat the Big Green and take some revenge for humiliation in Hanover last year.

Proud to say my hat was the first to hit the ice once willows completed the hat trick. Great weekend by the 'Cats, but next weekend's game is a big game against a not so good team. UNH needs to keep themselves from playing down to the competition and win that game, because the OOC record this year has not been good and a loss to a team like Dartmouth after a loss to Harvard a few weeks ago would hurt a lot going into tournament selection time
