UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

Question: Why do you guys throw a lobster? I thought you just threw fish?

My understanding is that they weren't too happy about the fish on Saturday and security was definitely upped tonight. Everybody in my group got patted down on the way in (all UNH students in Jerseys), and I had a bag that was long and skinny (which could have easily fit the usual fish) and they made me completely empty it and interrogated me for a good minute or so about the signs I had in it. I guess the lobster was the biggest thing they could have snuck in, although I would have rather seen a small fish instead.

Now that's a fine Maine education at work....

Did Mom let you up from her basement to use the Compaq?

I wasn't aware trailer homes had basements.

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

This is really scary. I witnessed the demise of yet another UNH hockey season tonight, and now I'm so wound up I'm headed for the meds so I can sleep.
Watching sports is supposed to be enjoyable.
Watching UNH hockey makes me want to take the black pill.

Someone mentioned it earlier in this or the other unh thread but hell, at least its EASY to root for a bad program... like the uml, pc or Maine*s of the world :( hard to get upset when you know you don't have a shot

How about this, stop watching!! No one will miss you and you whinning!!! Or do you just need something to complaining about and make yourself noticed? There is a simple solution, just leave!!
I for one am proud of the boys and sick of the whiners like you on here who call themselves fan. Did you even watch or just come on here just wait for them to lose so you can complain, wait I know the answer to that one. You are like the people tonight who ran for the door when the game was over and couldn't stick around to applaud the boys on a hard fought year. So feel free to move on and stop wasting your precious time as you think you are way more important then you are. Please tell us how the Coaches attire made them lose or how the fish is the worst thing ever. You know all of the trophies that were won before Umile and the Fish back in your time. Please spare us all your predictable dribble and SHUT UP!!!

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

You're kidding right? You go with the horses that get you there. The PP was struggling 0 for 19 I believe, and the Notre Dame goalie played lights out. "Causing them to be tired" is beautiful. There really wasn't an opportunity to get them off. Killing the penalty swung the momentum back to ND which accounts for their scoring opportunity which "drew" the penalty.

Umile was thoroughly out coached, as was Dennehy.
Jackson knew exactly how to have his boys tire out the competition this weekend, so that they could jump on any opportunity.
I saw it.

and, no you don't go with dead horses, I don't care where they got ya, you go with the fresh legs. (I am not referring to a single PP, I am referring to the entire weekend)

If you claim to have graduated from any college or university and can not produce a response without the spelling and punctuation mistakes included in the unedited blurb above, please get your GED, stop picking on these poor kids from Maine, get a life, leave us alone. Nifty 16, Rick Middleton? You are a buffoon.

See I really don't care what you think, you have more then proven yourself over the years to what you are. I think it is you who should leave us alone, maybe you can play with your little friend from Maine and who do you mean by us? ARe you saying you are actually a Maine fan and are just a troll?
.I think I will stick around and support the team and not a fake like you are.

If you want to belong to and reply to a college hockey forum, I think you should at the very least have and be able to demonstrate that you have an eighth grade education. Please.

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

I'm not sure what C-H-C was getting at, but I find the article a little silly. Imagine if someone said that they liked Notre Dame or Duke's basketball team because they have more whites on the team. Or, Imagine the reaction if Jonathan Papelbon said he respected or idolized Trevor Hoffman more than Mariano Riviera because he (Papelbon) and Hoffman were the same color.

I've got about three different European countries in my blood, but I have friends who are Irish, Italian, etc. I'm not really sure what the hell being Italian has to do with anything.

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

This game was aggravating on so many levels...even more so after watching such a great effort the day before. I wouldnt say this was a lazy effort by UNH, maybe not as inspired as Saturday, but they've definitely had lazier games. Moreso it was just an unintelligent effort, starting from the top down.

Unh was absolutely dominated below the tops of the circles in both ends. When the puck got into the offensive zone it came right back out....when ND got the puck in deep they possessed it for entire shifts, and sometimes two or three.

ND did the same thing to UNH that UNH effectively did to Miami the night before...they took away all traces of transition, and UNH was simply unable and unprepared to win the battles in the trenches. UNH relies far too heavily on their transition game, and they always have. When it's not there, UNH is not successful. It's the only way they understand how to play. Once they fell behind, ND had 3 and 4 guys back at all times and UNH continued to try and carry the puck through the neutral zone or go cross ice with lazy passes. To beat a team like ND, especially when they have a lead, you have to chip pucks in and make their defensemen turn around and go chase after them. You have to win races, win battles, and possess the puck below the tops of the circles and grind out your scoring chances. UNH generated some shots, but not nearly enough real good chances. I just wanted to bang my head off the wall because every time they carried the puck through the NZ you just knew they were going to get turned over and the rush was going to come the other way.

And the PP....5 highly skilled guys and we can't even gain the offensive zone...for several weeks. There needs to be a change, that's all I'm going to say.

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

Do you have anything to back this up this accusation of bigotry?

Until I read Mike Zhe's article, it never occurred to me that (as he wrote) hockey is dominated by "Canadians" and "Irish-Americans" and that Coaches Umile and Blasi have made inroads because they attract "Italian-American" players. This article raised the notion that there is a friendly competition between coaches/players of various ethnic backgrounds. Do any of the posters who consistently express a disliking of Coach Umile harbor ethnic resentment toward him? I doubt it and certainly hope not.

Can't believe UNH smoked Miami and then not so much against at ND. Didn't this same thing happen last year? Gotta be frustrating. Still a decent year. Certainly still a top 4 HE team while mine is in the gutter. Apparently even one of our fans?????(can you say BC) is in the gutter

This is what UNH Hockey means to Coach Umile and the young men who work their butts off entertaining us:

Thank you Captain Mike Sislo, Assistant Captain Matt Campanale, Paul Thompson, Phil DeSimone, Mike Beck, and Greg Manz.

You are what you are.

UNH was a .500 team the last six weeks of the season. For the season had a sub .500 record against TUCS. And that's what this weekend was. A .500 performance against two quality teams.

Not making an excuse, just stating a fact.

I suppose but I was laughing at Miami's D during that game. UNHs forwards were absolutely smoking them. To see them play flat against ND was shocking to me.
