UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

Hey all...long time reader of the forums (we're talking probably ~'06) and 2010 graduate of UNH here. Figured I would join to stay closer to the program now that I'm not up in Durham anymore.

I'm also looking for some new hockey gear - mine is pretty old and beat up from my high school days. I was wondering, any way I could get my hands on a UNH hockey girdle?

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

I'm glad too, but if they lose in a first round game in Manchester AGAIN to Miami Ohio, I am probably going to lose my mind.

Happily for you, you don't have much to lose.
We've been through this before: it's one, in a nutshell, he'll be leaving on his own terms, and, two, we could do much worse than what he's brought to the program.
I'm a frustrated alumnus, too.

Al Pike doing his part to fire up Paul Thompson:

I hope that guy comes to play on Saturday.

Hopefully he has been watching the way Mosses has been playing and takes a cue from him, play hard end to end all shift!! If we can get that same energy out of the first line should be one hell of a game. I do have some worries about the 3rd line, they really need to turn it up a notch Saturday

Maybe Austin Block earned his way back onto the third line. He played with pretty good intensity against Merrimack on Friday. I also like Silengo's energy. Whoever center's that line, I hope Speelman and especially Henrion have a big game. Henrion the Sniper hasn't been sniping as much over the last month or so.

Agree about Block, looks like the benching has put an extra step in his game. Like to see maybe some in game mixing matching of the 3rd and 4th line. REally would like to see Henrion step it up, looked good for stretches this year and need to get the right combo with him to get him going. Some reason like seeing Silengo and Sorkin playing together they seem to feed off each other well and really play well with Burke, but then again he is out this weekend.

Maybe some one should tell the cry baby that BC is free to bid for the reginols. Everyone plays by the same rules get over it

Is anyone really surprised what the BC Globe prints? It's no different with all of the Boston TV Stations - WCBC, WBC and WHBC

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

And, John Powers' article in the Monday Globe should fire up the entire UNH team; wow, what a hatchet job on the Wildcats.

Powers should just crawl back under his rock until the next Olympics

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

The sobbing BC slant aside, isn't it factually inacurate to say that BC would have avoided North Dakota in the semis if they had been sent to Manchester? Don't they select the semifinal matchups based on the 1 v 4 and 2 v 3? Pretty straightforward numbers? Or is it pre-determined?

Never let the facts get in the way of a good story:eek::eek::eek:

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

Nice story, didn't realize he was on scholarship when he came in, he really has developed over the last couple of years in to a solid defenseman and good role model for the younger guys. I am taking he has worked with Hardowa a lot off the ice, can really see the same kind of development in him from year 1 to year 2.

Re: UNH Wildcats - 2011 Playoff Quest

People forget the current roster is 26 (last I heard Ivens-Anderson left the team) but there are only 18 scholarships allowed in NCAA hockey. I know scholarships get broken up, so one guy might be a 3 for 4 etc. So the equivalent of 8 guys paid their own way this year, and this roster size is pretty typical for UNH.
