Tonight's game is being broadcast on WNTK as well. If you have the WNTK Android app you can hear the game as well. Can't speak for the iCANONLYDOWHATSTEVEJOBSALLOWSMETODOPHONE.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2011 - 2012

The team looked very good last night in beating Colgate. While it was only their third game, they had good bounce in their skates, moved the puck well, while consistantly attacking the net....none of the freshman looked out of place at all, with the 3 blueliners doing great....Kashman is very impressive up front....keeping in mind that it still is very early in the season, the Wildcats seem to be back.

:)Gilligan, Women's Ice Hockey Goaltender, Named WHEA Defensive Player of the Week
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Jenn Gilligan (Maple Ridge, British Columbia), a freshman goaltender on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was named the Women's Hockey East Association Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Gilligan recorded a season-high 24 saves to backbone UNH to a 1-1 tie against fifth-ranked Boston College at the Whittemore Center on Oct. 14. She stopped every shot in the second period (eight shots), third (seven) and five-minute overtime session (three) to finish with a .960 save percentage. Gilligan anchored the penalty kill to a perfect 4-for-4 effort that included a kill in OT.

In four games this season, Gilligan is 2-1-1 with a 1.73 GAA, .916 save percentage and one shutout; in three homes games, she is 1-1-1 with a 0.98 GAA, .948 save percentage and one shutout.

Gilligan earned a victory in her collegiate debut, a start in the Sept. 30 at Niagara University in which she made 21 saves. In her second career start, Gilligan made 19 saves to record her first shutout – a 3-0 win against Colgate University.

Gilligan is the second UNH freshman to be honored by WHEA this season. Heather Kashman (Edmonton, Alberta) was the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Oct. 3.

UNH (3-2-1, 0-1-1 Hockey East) returns to action Oct. 21 (4 p.m.) at St. Lawrence University and concludes its October slate the next day at Clarkson University with a two o'clock start. The Wildcats' next home game is Nov. 3 against the University of Vermont. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2011 - 2012

Watched the game via America1 today, and was able to see the Wildcats play a great game against the Larries and the 4 bogus officials doing the game....can anyone ever remember your team not only coming back from 2 goals down on the road, but also fighting 10 penalty calls,(2 at the same time for a 5 on 3!), 1 penalty shot, and 2 called back goals! I mean talk about your home ice calls......so cheers to the Wildcats who stuck together, got angry and were able to pull out a strong performance....nuts!

This article is out on the day a coworker and his wife found out she has a very aggressive form of this insidious disease. We can't let up until it is eradicated.

Women's Ice Hockey Team Raises $2200 at CelebratePink 5K Road Race & Walk

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team participated at the 3rd Annual CelebratePink 5K Road Race & Walk that was held Sept. 17 in Portsmouth and donated $2,200 as a fund raising effort that benefitted BreastCancerStories.org and My Breast Cancer Support in the greater seacoast New Hampshire and Maine area.

All 21 members of the team, as well as assistant coach Stephanie Jones, ran the 5K course together as a group.

My Breast Cancer Support
is here to help local patients who are being treated for breast cancer to stay on a path toward emotional wellness and healing. We aspire to provide the support tools they need to find a comfortable balance between life and treatment - to lend a hand, to educate, to ease their discomfort, and to help them to find strength and encouragement as they begin to embrace their new normal.

BreastCancerStories.org gives Breast Cancer Patients and Care Givers access to virtual hugs and support from family members as well as other Patients and Care Givers across the globe going through a similar experience. Having just launched in the summer of 2006, more than 10,000 people log on every month to post and read stories about the trials of breast cancer and the triumphs of surviving the disease that claims the lives of far too many people every year.

Huge win for the team today up at Dartmouth! Down 3-2 with 12 minutes to go on the road, and the Wildcats came back to win in OT, 5-4......after not showing up vs UVM at home earlier this week, it's great to see the team come out and compete late into the game....Emma Clark crashed the net for UNH to put home the winner....yea you Emmanater you! More to cmoe this year from all Wildcats concerned.....congrads also to the UNH Field Hockey team for downing BU for the America East Championship....it's on to the nationals and UNC.....yea, good luck with that! Let's go Wildcats!!

Re: UNH Wildcats 2011 - 2012

Probably looking to the future.....we know what Minton can do, but we need to know what Gilly and Moe can do as we move forward....no slight, unfortunately it happens to senior goalies ...ask Mark Evans or Ken Lorence....

Re: UNH Wildcats 2011 - 2012

Thanks to UNH fans for providing links to your coach's blog.

He writes well, he has excellent observation skills even outside the hockey rink and his analysis of the hockey is obviously of the highest level. It was a great pleasure reading his three blog posts about the Minnesota trip.

Good luck, I guess based on the coach's comments that we will be seeing you for annual games at least for the next couple of seasons.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2011 - 2012

Hoping that the Wildcats will skate hard tonight against Union, as they did Saturday vs. Princeton... they contested every free puck, played thru the body along the boards, kept their skates moving and started to shoot the puck....the PK was 9 for 9 and the hustle that was shown was so great to see, that which is typical of former UNH squads...hopefully the team has found their old self....C'mon Wildcats!

zoofer, even though they were badly outscored, maybe in some respects their series against Minnesota helped them get it going?

If so, they better get it going once more, because they trail Union 1-0 after one on home ice.

Edit: Make that 2-0 after two.
