5.Per Bomberhockey, "And it will continue with de commits. The barndoor is still wide open! Resources are also going to dry up."
Well, for the next three years everyone is in play. Fregona and Esposito are the kids I would worry about (Blackburn is a Stewart recruit, and BVR and Kelleher have family ties to UNH). Not sure what the "resources" alludes to -- whether it is connections with junior teams up in Canada, or UNH resources to the program.
It sure will be interesting once UNH gets a recruit. For all the teeth gnashing, losing recruits in the price of a usual transition. Ryczek, Farabee hurt, and Foegele departing also hurt. It's the replacements that determines where the program goes. Again, it comes down to Souza (and perhaps Stewart, whatever Stewart's role is) filling in the red TBAs. USA is picked clean, but Canada still has pretty good 98s, 99s and 00s. Not traditional Souza stomping grounds, though.
The Stewart question - what is his long-term role in the program? - continues to be fascinating to me. Given the short term openings and the best US prospects having been "picked clean", the success/failure of UNH during this purported "transitional" period seems to rest on recruiting success north of the border (or beyond - which would be a novel concept at UNH). Which is something that plays into Stewart's strengths, and not Souza's (at least so far).
Which in my mind makes the (early) Souza as successor selection more and more curious every passing week ...

Heck I'm hoping that he (Souza) will hang in there for the next 3 seasons...and Stewart for that matter, with the possibility of HC jobs opening up as they do. Who's to say he wouldn't bolt if given a lucrative position at another D1 school? Doubt he signed a "I agree to be the UNH HC in 3 years" kind of contract. These things keep me up at night.
Want to say that I think we are already benefitting from these guys behind the bench; I love watching them work with the players when they come off the ice...
From everything I've read,Watcher, is Nick Nonis omitted from your tables or did I miss it...? You know how I feel about our Dmen coming in....Is he coming in year after next? Have to check C-H-C lists..hope it's next year.
Stewart is the Adam Clark of the coaching staff

FWIW, I thought there was a noticeable uptick in team defense with Torterella that has since receded.
And BTW, why can't we have a Grant Standbrook?
Former recruit Joel Farabee is heading to BU.

Very proud and honored to announce my commitment to Boston University. Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way. #GoTerriers
Ok UNH whatcha got!?!
Maybe they changed philosophy, to quality over quantity?
