UNH Recruits: 2012-2014

Re: UNH Recruits: 2012-2014

Umile has to make a decision on who to bring in on Defense next year, aside from Quast. I don't want any one defecting due to poor communication, and it's not like "the Kessel situation" applies this year.

I say only bring in Quast, yes this puts us down to only 7 d, and competition is good blah blah. Not sure we want to bring in Pesce, Maller or Cleland if they are going to sit - let them develop in the U. I know Pesce is clearly a better prospect (maybe even player at this point), but he's only had about a half-year of the EJ, and is very young. As long as he shows up at some point I'll be happy.

Anyone hearing anything about any other forward recruits in the pipeline?

Just trying to keep the convo flowing.

A couple of observations point toward the strong possibility of a new commitment in the near future:
(1) With Chevrier leaving and Vecchione decommitting, the coaches have at least 4 years worth of scholarship money freed up.
(2) I didn't see Coach Borek, the primary recruiter, at the UNH-Dartmouth game. He may have been on the recruiting trail.

As far as bringing in another defenseman next year, in addition to Harry Quast, my guess is that only Brett Pesce is under consideration (among the defensemen who have already committed to UNH). As a senior in high school, he held his own in the four college games he played in recently with Team USA.

I have it on good authority that Borek, with a full scholarship in hand, was in a meeting with Capitals GM George McPhee hoping to secure a commitment from a player to be drafted this summer by the Caps and even further talks about having UNH become a de facto farm team for Washington by giving all their draft picks scholarships in the future! It's such an unfair advantage that the fans of the 57 other D1 teams are absolutely outraged but somehow they will all have to deal with it.

is this for real?

Canucks scout/Chris Heisenberg is reporting that 92 G Jamie Regan from Philly Rev has committed to UNH. Tyler Scott's replacement I would assume. .904 sv% and 3.92 GAA.

Really upsetting to hear about Masters. I hope its nothing that'll keep him from coming or keep me from wanting him to come. Anyone able to fill us in on what happened and what his future looks like?
