Also, what do we know about Quast? Was he a late bloomer or will he never see much playing time? With all of the negativity out there, I like our youth and upcoming classes. The playing time for our young players will pay future dividends.

Lastly, when does the last Van Riemsdyk get to commitment age?

Quast is a late-bloomer with upside--they are not paying for him and who knows- he could be a hit...UNH has done well with recruited walk ons in the past--think Frische/Campanle...

The fall of '12 class is just ok--but there does not appear to be alot of money coming in.
The fall if '13 is the best class UNH has had in a VERY long time. Real high end class (Kelleher/Pesce/Masters/Poturalski/etc.)
BVR is still a long ways away in my opinion. Was just average at select festival. His development curve is more on par with TVR than JVR. TVR nearly committed to Babson before deciding to play for NH Junior Monarchs. Late bloomer.
Curtis Frye is a NH goalie playing for NTDP--is considering UNH--Mike Ayers is his goalie coach. Big kid.

Great info, thanks. I have heard good info on MacDonald so hopefully he turns into something special. Also hope Ayers has some good UNH influence on Frye. Certainly helps having him as a local kid.

Curtis Frye (DOB 7/25/95; 6'4", 195 lbs), along with Casey DeSmith, Jeff Wyer, Brian Foster and Kevin Regan, train or have trained with Goalie Coach Brian Daccord of Stop It Goaltending (and Goaltending Consultant Group) based in Woburn MA.

The goalie coach for UNH is David Schultz, also from Stop It Goaltending. Due to NCAA regulations, UNH is only allowed to have 3 paid coaches so Schultz is the "volunteer" goalie coach for the team. Most other Hockey East programs also have a volunteer goalie coach on staff.

BVr is in a talent laden forward year, so to compare him to his peers would be difficult even if he were jvr.
Curtis Frye's dad is a goalie coach, played at Lake Forest DII national champs, and Bruins Org.

USHR's thoughts on BVR at last fall's Junior Bruins Shootout, in the now free September News Release:

"Brendan VanRiemsdyk, ‘96 (New Jersey Devils) — 6’2”, 175 lbs. — At 15, there is little physical difference between Brendan and his older brother, James. All of the tools are there, he just has to figure out how to use them. A recent growth spurt has robbed him of his coordination. When that coordination returns, look for his game to take off. UNH was on hand tracking his progress."

We need a congressional investigation into George McPhee to determine any connections he had with MV. This has Jerry York tampering written all over it!!

Haven't been on USCHO in a while...decided to check on recruits, ended up finding a ****ing contest. Next year's class is bad? Why? The year after that is good? Why?

Just looking at the USHL stats page and noticed the difference is scoring between Michael Vechione and BC recruit Austin Cangelosi.

Vechione, 18 (turns 19 next month): 24 games, 5g, 7a, 12 pts, (-10)
Cangelosi, 17 (turns 18 in August): 24 games, 14g, 15a, 29 pts, (+15)

If Vechione is indeed the real deal, then I'm feeling pretty good about Cangelosi's future!! :D:D
