Hmm.. that is strange.. maybe he is playing a year at a Canadian school and transferring after his freshman season? He will be 21 in August.
Hopefully he can come back from his surgery and pick up the second half of the AJHL season where he left off.

Geez, maybe his family could convince him that the ride from Saugus to North Andover would be convenient :D

Not at all, never happens up here. I'm guessing his gpa dipped a tick below 4.0 and he's worried admissions at the 9th Ivy won't let him in, so he's being pro-active.

I certainly hope the 'word' is inaccurate, but it wouldn't be surprising to anyone at this point.

Is Vecchione drafted? I'd hate to see an NHL GM negotiate a scholarship for him and an unfair advantage for the kid through one of his college coach buddies! Conflict of interest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

What is going to stop NCAA teams from becoming de facto farm teams for an NHL organization. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Since Umile stock-piled on 6 forwards for next year, and there are only 3 leaving, perhaps they asked Vecchione to stay back a year and maybe he isn't willing to wait around. This is a real shame no matter what the reason is.
