UNH Men’s Hockey 22-23: the start of something new, or more of the same?

It's sad, that should never be the case. It wasn't all that long ago that March was the time of the season we all looked forward to, most of all. Great games with big crowds against strong opponents. How the times have changed

Still do. Admittedly not as emotionally exciting sans ’cats, but a lot less stressful.

Oh, I see you've read MS7's comments on the game in the UL (and I alluded to this as well)

“We knew coming down here that it was going to be a tough game for us,” UNH coach Mike Souza said. “It’s hard to beat a team three times, especially a quality team like Connecticut. They capitalized on their chances tonight. We didn’t.”

I've always thought this was an interesting take on things; and sometimes, it does ring true.

In February and March 2015 UNH went 4-0 against UConn in a 3 week period.
UConn then won the next 6 meetings covering 3 seasons.

Bizarrely, for the first streak Souza was behind the UConn bench, for the second he was behind the UNH bench.

EDIT: To be clear, I am not blaming Souza for UNH going 0-6 vs UConn, it was just an oddity that stuck out when sifting through the information.

I do not think Souza has beaten BU in his tenure? Think 3 wins in my 10 years of following the team. Swept them in '14. He has broken the BC barrier but BU has been tough.

UNH has done horrible in the portal over the last 2 years. Not counting the goalie this year have 107 games played this year and only 19 pts,Black has 13 of them.Merrimack on the other hand has 180 games played and 94 pts. This needs to improve or don't use it and bring in kids earlier. I notice the 2024 class will have 4-19 year olds,and one true 18 yr old unless they defure Sadowski and probably lose him...lol.

Why should their handling of the portal be any different to how horribly everything else has been handled?

I'd like to know if there is any feedback to either of 'Ref's "PS" inquiries. The latter could be a huge factor in what's left of the season, and the former could provide snippets of insight into the future ... although I'm not gonna bet the farm on the new AD's comments being anything truly revelatory (beyond compliance nuts & bolts, of course).

FWIW isn't it interesting that it took GUNHer's arrival to bring MS7's team to life, and now that he's apparently gone, they are returning to their previous form?? Maybe Ramona can get the old goat back for 3 more wins, and somehow get this now-listing Good Ship Lollipop safely into port in Boston in time for St. Patrick's Day???

I removed my post last night regarding this but the gist of it was that its obvious Merrimack has benefited greatly from the portal (Mack report recent newsletter). Agree with your sentiments...if you are truly building you should bring in your bright prospects before they go elsewhere...not that it hasn't happened before! (kidding) Still think it will be interesting to see what happens and we do need an alternate goal tender so that has to come from somewhere??

Little snafu with the ticketing for tomorrow nights game...due to a 'technical issue' they have suspended tix sales (as they can't process anything online at the moment; that does NOT mean they are not selling any more tix call to be sure if you need any more info) and are opening the doors (can only go in the front) to let everyone in. Doors open for STH's @5:15 Everyone else 5:30. (still a 7 pm game) Just a heads up as I imagine sth's have seen this email I just saw mine... Go 'Cats

From UNHWildcats.com: “Effective immediately online ticket sales through third-party vendor AudienceView have been suspended…Tickets for Men's Hockey (3/2) can be purchased at the door beginning at 5 p.m. Please feel free to check back. Please note that we are unable to take orders via phone or e-mail. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have the issue remedied soon.”

A quick “AudienceView” web search reveals that they had a security breach. Some schools are reporting compromised credit cards. Many others have suspended sales. Watch your credit card if account if you purchased tickets in the past few weeks. It is unclear if the individual schools or AudienceView suspended sales. Either way, good for them and for the schools not using TicketBa$tard.

Any one of you drunken woke nimrods could have seen what was going to happen last weekend!! A season sweep of ZOO-CONN???? C'mon!!!! Chiiiit.......if in fact SOOOUZA did sell his soul to the Devil, I'm sure that Lucifer himself said, "Whoa, whoa, whoa there little Mikey, baby steps, baby steps!"

Now.....about them stoned libturds from the Green Mtn. State......It's payback time for SOOOUZA and the boys to send Bernie's Bums back to BER-Lington with their tails between their legs for chrissakes!! I will tell ya this....if they lose to these dang "Can't-amounts", well you can forget the soul-selling theory. Oh SOOOUUZA....your fans turn their lonely eyes to you! HAR HAR HAR HAR!!!!

Thank you for this as I did see a tweet from the AD about it...but did not see the rest of this info. And, my post wasn't a 'slam' on the Athletic Dept..just a heads up for anyone who didn't know how this would impact them potentially. I myself...am not going to be there 2 hrs ahead.
