UNH Men’s Hockey 22-23: the start of something new, or more of the same?

...and just like that on 2 PP goals we are back in it! Two beauties esp Huards. Nice to see Devlin break out of his scoring slump...

Personally I blame tonight's loss on Chuck for his negative Scenectady ju ju :-)

But regardless if you were there it was a fast game to watch and we enjoyed it. At least we came back to tie it and let's not kid ourselves neother team is going anywhere fast this season. Will be interesting to see how Union fares they had some great breakaways and passing on one of their goals.

Frankly I thought we made it pretty easy on their keeper with our shot selection. Fessenden was far busier and we outshot them what 2 to1? That said giving up 4 goals on 17 shots makes one go hmmmm

So I'll give a tip of the cap to two players (well 3 including LeClec with his 3 helpers) who had good nites on the scoresheet and that would be Liam D and Colton H who had a helper in there in addition to his 2 goals.

so no more disparaging comments Chuck in fact we had a great meal out right near the college. And come on UNH...make it worth my while travelling all this way with a W tomorrow night!

Okay, so we'll play it this way then 'Ref ... you and Mr. Ref are out there now, as we speak, enjoying the many wonderful sights and sounds of the "Electric City" and Gem of the Mohawk, as one of the easternmost posts on the formerly transformational Erie Canal. Nowadays the home of the NY State Lottery and Price Chopper grocery store chain, I'll let you wax poetic on all of the other great cultural gems on display during your trip. Not to mention Messa/Achilles itself, which from outside has all the visual charm and warmth of a vintage underground bomb shelter. No wonder Union is willing to rent space at the MBPB Mohawk Harbor Arena project (lol ... BTW that's never happening).

I won't say anything about how the rest of our posters are showing better judgment by avoiding the place entirely and all ... but will simply leave you with a short video/cautionary tale about the town itself - enjoy!!

Tilton Academy is 10 and 1 and could likely give them a game.

And Plymouth State Panthers.

And outta-state Bentley Falcons, who embarrassed yet another HEA team tonight, this time downing the NU Fuskies 3-1 in Waltham where the ice arena still awaits a big donor for naming rights.

Saw that! Good for those Falcons! NU also lost to Union recently so there's that (as I believe I've mentioned).

Now I'll go back to the sounds of the city. And Chuck...you can post all you want about how other posters aren't here and to that I say...they dont know what they're missin'...

New Contest - Pick The Game Where UNH Gets Its First HEA Win in 2023!!

Simple contest, really ... and I'll set the ground rules, here and now. Each poster gets to pick the first HEA opponent that UNH will beat in the calendar year 2023. Win has to come in regulation, so none of this overtime/shootout crap. A real, legitimate 60 minute win. You kind of have the following three (3) options:

(1) Pick a game from the remainder of the UNH Men's Hockey '22/'23 HEA schedule; OR
(2) Take the position that UNH will not win an HEA game in regulation until NEXT season;
(2a) Not knowing the schedule for October-December '23, make a WAG on UNH's first victim; OR
(3) Take the position that UNH will not win an HEA game in regulation until early '24; OR
(4) MS7's existing contract will expire (4/30/24) without UNH ever again winning in regulation
(5) Tiebreaker: If more than one person guesses right, first person on the record here wins!

I got goosebumps just thinking about all the fun that lies ahead of us, gang. Winner winner, chicken dinner ...

I'm a little late to the party here but I've got my future W picked out. UNH will beat UMass Lowell at the Whitt Saturday Jan 21. It'll be a Muszelik start, UNH goes down 1-0 on an early soft goal but goalie and team regain confidence after MS says 'We gotta play better' in the locker room during the first intermission. After a little back and forth UNH takes a 3-2 lead early in the 3rd and then escapes an onslaught by UML with an organized gritty defensive performance coupled with some timely saves by the Freshman. As the siren goes off the team crowds Muszelik and in the post game interview MS says he's 'happy for the Seniors'

They win one more HEA game vs one of our Northern New England border state schools late in the year to finish 11th with two HEA wins to name.

There's a lot of meat left on that bone, teez. Much respect for picking an early date, too. Hope you're right ...

... and as for you, 'Ref, well, some of us have been there, and know all too well what we're "missing" ... ;-)

Schenectady is nothing to write home about but the capital district has many other towns and cities. Albany or Saratoga Springs are worth checking out and have some very good restaurants. Some traffic on I-90/I-87 could be an issue in the evenings actually going to Schenectady but not all that likely.

Had a nice walk around the Saratoga Spa State Park and some yummy pizza at the "I Love New York" pizza shop. Good to see the area and the weather was mild-ish at 43. Now if UNH can pull out a W...

If you are into music, the summertime experience at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) is well worth the trip.
