UNH Men’s Hockey 22-23: the start of something new, or more of the same?

Ugh, awful first period regardless of the score. Barely putting anything on net; SOG's UVM 13 UNH 5 UVM played like they were on a perpetual power play, and we turned over the puck at least 7 times in a span of 3 minutes (I started to count what happened when we came down ice; zip on possession; coughed it up immediately). A couple of decent chances but not much else. Hardly the team I saw in the beginning of the season/ hoping for a better 2nd?

Clarkson up 2-0 over Cornell, so that should help our PWR. Also, with St Lawrence rolling along with a 5-5 record, those two Wildcat opening weekend wins in the North Country should keep us out of the PWR basement.

Again, I'd be surprised if the participant's don't see the path (especially if, as I would guess, the contract is up at year end), and so if the HC hasn't already begun an exit strategy to account for a non-renewal. Jeering him on his way out, for a failure of Scarano/Umile, seems particularly bad form.

If you want to jeer, next time Umile shows up, do him. He's a big boy and can take it and has already formed a self-worth that is unlikely to be harmed, and frankly, deserves it more (though I generally still think its bad form). For the HC, hopefully he has lots of time to reinvent himself and find a good use for his skills.

Didn’t say I was going to start a chant, just wondering when it happens (unlikely anyway as many in attendance are apathetic or just there because they got a free ticket). BTW, I went the “humane and effective” route last week, no response as of yet.
 
2 zip. I had stepped away to watch the B's some and just came in to see the goal. Replay looked like we did not challenge the shooter. Back to the Bruins.
 
Swept. Two goals all weekend. Oh, should not be this way...Oh and Snively I believe I owe you a beer as I did not expect this...

You know the thing that galls me the.most is this is just lather rinse repeat. This is not on these players. I know what I saw those first two games and if that team showed up this weekend it would have been a different t story (sorry UVM fans no offense AND good for you putting together a sweep)

Groundhog day over and over and not acceptable.

You are correct, lack of talent will never win this is all on the coaching. It starts with recruiting and identifying talent which is obvious this regime can't do. Nothing will change this year as UNH would never fire MS7 midseason and the assistants are not any better. This needs to be a clean the house type of situation.

Question for those more in the know, does Colin Shank need to go as well? I know he isn't recruiting or coaching but how much of his responsibilities fall into play.

As they say when you hit rock bottom, there is no place to go but up.

EDIT: Glad you brought up the assistants, they have been getting off easy. As I said earlier the whole cast of characters is in over their heads.

Was just looking at the schedule. 22 games left (this means a lot of bar tabs left for me to dull the pain)

Current record 3-8-1 after starting 2-0

Final record 10-21-3 if my math is right, with 10 points in HE.

Outscored by 1.4 GPG
Out shot by 2.3 SPG
Power Play: 18.2%
Sv %: .934

Only positive is the penalty kill is 84.6%. Might be better to get an early goal and then play short handed.

Highest goal total is 4 this year.

Holy Cross - away (2-7-1)
AZ State - 2 home (7-4-0)
Union - 2 away (5-8-1)
Sacred Heart - home (6-4-1)
Maine - 2 home (2-8-1)
UVM - home (4-6-1)

Any other cupcakes on our schedule? I know, “if we cannot recognize the cupcakes, we are the cupcake.”

Honestly, I saw Norbert's 10 win, 10 hockey East point prediction and thought "optimist"

Maybe he's giving us an extra HE win by upset, otherwise we have 3 games that are winnable on paper. I would not have said it before this weekend, but I also could see us going zero for 28 in HE play.
