UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Just got back to my hotel from the Beanpot (and some post Beanpot revelry). Not only did Conmy notch 4 assists on the game (including a real beaut on the 1st pp goal I believe), but he drew the penalties that led to 2 of the 3 BC pp goals. Tough to watch as a UNH fan.
Yup, 4 assists for Conmy. Why cannot we get playmakers like dat?

I am not sure how much Conmy did 5+ minutes into the third period to draw Ryder Ritchie’s stupid cross-check of Conmy into the boards leading to Gasseau’s goal 4 seconds later to put the game out of reach at 4-1, but hoping that UNH can draw some penalties against the Terrior goons this coming weekend to give MS7 a chance to work his magic with a new PP strategy. A sweep of BU would get us up to an abysmal 13 wins on the season and maybe out of the HEA basement for a week rather than just 24 hours like two weekends ago.

Don't you understand, Conmy is a prima donna that didn't play well along the boards last night, according to Meathead (Norbert), Emily The Flunky, Buford (Chuck Murray), Elwood (JD) and Grouchy. In addition, his BC teammates don't like him because he's aloof. Emily The Flunky has sources inside Boston College hockey that say its so.

They are glad he left UNH. Too much scoring. Scoring is Fascist.

As a UNH fan I enjoyed watching Conmy last night. I also enjoyed watching Max Brosmer succeed as a Gopher. Conmy's awareness and passing were excellent. I'm glad he has finishers to pass to. Hard to say for sure in the post goal elation moments, but his teammates appear to like him. Maybe only when he passes the puck and they score?

Why do you keep subjecting yourself? Stay home. Watch a movie. Read the box score the next morning. It's all good. Life's too short.

You know what's good as well? Sarcasm.

If I ran my company the way MS7 manages this team, I would have been fired years ago. Ah, the difference between working in the private and public sector is so acute.

Government work is great work...if you can find it. Not at the top of the payscale, but job security and guaranteed contracts which have become increasingly rare outside the bubble of tax payer funded positions

I gave up my season tickets three years back. At first, I would watch on TV, and eventually that became too frustrating. Now I'll occasionally check scores on the USCHO app. It's amazing how much my winters have opened up, and how much enjoyment I find in doing other things, rather than watching a program the University can give two sh!tz about.

Ah yes the high accountability private sector with its golden parachutes and swinging door c-suites that constantly recycle the same retread hires.

Sure, Souza probably would've lost his UNH job in industry but he would've been given ample opportunity to parlay his "executive experience" into several similar roles elsewhere.

What is lost on the group that fantasizes about a perfectly operating private sector on this board is the ability to obfuscate results as a industry executive. A bottom line doesn't lie, sure, but countless executives take over profitable companies that are poised to grow on their own and either deteriorate that profit or lag the growth the economy was already providing.

The results for a coach don't lie. "You are what your record says you are"

If UNH hockey was privately run, there would be an analysis of what ails the program. Not a chance in the world that they'd just dump the head coach and kick the can down the road without a much more thorough analysis. Sure, the coach would likely get replaced but not without doing a top to bottom analysis of why the program has not been competitive in general for 11 years. Firing the leader of an organization is a serious indictment of the organization.

Everything would be on the table. If the group doing the analysis found funding to be a problem, which is a near certainty, they'd recommend increased funding among other changes. If their advice was not accepted, they'd look for a new company and resign.

But in a failing place like UNH, souza will get replaced by someone with promise and most assuredly minimal salary requirements, a smiley press conference will occur and quite likely the results will not change very much. Hey, a 7th place finish!

Nope never said that. Said UNH team didn’t like him. Might want to fact check before you post. He had one good game which should be expected every game since he’s getting paid to play there. Where was he when BC lost to Vermont last weekend 6-1?

LOL! Unless you are a C Level Executive at a Fortune 500 or publicly traded company, the days of outrageous severance packages and golden handcuffs disappeared about 15 years ago.

Also, remember that you get what you're able to negotiate. Most people don't and they reap the spoils of not being to advocate for their own interests.

As for MS7, he inherited a program in decline, yes. However, after eight years, he hasn't shown enough progress to continue leading the program. He's now proven himself to a bureaucrat happy to have a paycheck and middling results

This would be the equivalent of spitting in these kids' faces. Just my 2 cents.
While I agree I think paper bags would be a bit over the top, I can understand the sentiment with trying to “send a message” to the school that the current product (again, going back for multiple years) is unacceptable for us fans. The students seemed to start to do this a few weeks ago with “fire Souza” chants (again, a bit crass, but I imagine people in high places noticed this, and did not take lightly to it).

Outside of simply boycotting games, we have largely lost our ability to communicate directly with the team with the loss of FoH. I’m not sure writing emails/letters to the AD will reverberate much.

Perhaps there are other ways we can voice our displeasure. I’d be curious to see/hear what others think?

Want to make clear my post was not at all in defense of Souza. Remains outrageous that he was granted an extension off one not-bad season. Incredible that Souza's high water mark was a 6th place finish in the conference 🤦‍♀️
