There was practice but it was a skeleton crew with the sickness going around.

That record wouldn't surprise me. It is why I noted "shockingly"
My theory as to why UNH is so bad against MC (well almost all HE) is Borek knows UNHs systems and Borek also know MS7 isn't going (isn't capable) to change anything.

Life has been cruel in January for me so I've not watched much UNH hockey. I see the standings and it sucks. I was able to watch Saturday night the 3rd period, OT, & shootout. Yeah it would have been nice if we had won in regulation or even OT instead of the shootout. However that game gave me what I needed and maybe what this team needed to use as fuel (heard they were sick) moving forward.
Like the 1st period for UNH, life had went pretty well even with hiccups here & there. 2nd period just coasting on through. 3rd period you think you're good and just need to keep going and it will be all good. Then BAM life smacks you just like losing that lead after MC's 2 goals. You stagger back to your feet like WTH happened to realize you better get ready to fight before it's over. Sometimes you have to take a risk like pulling the G to get that tying goal to stay alive. Then you keep fighting like OT & by grace you get lucky to not have a cruel fate be permanent like the crossbar saving you. Then you fight even harder and finally get that game winner in the shootout!
That had been my January as my wife & I had been expecting our son in June and everything had been fine. Then out of the blue on Jan 5th no heart beat and 6th he was removed and service & burial on 13th. Nothing found to have caused it. So we've been putting brave faces on in public battling through it. Every day fighting like heck to keep our other kids & selves going even though it hurts. It may have been just another game to all of you, but to me it meant more and gives me hope. Just have to keep fighting like UNH & Lavins did! Saturday night I was proud to be a New Hampshire hockey fan!

Friday and Saturday aren't isolated incidents. It has been a predictable pattern for the last five years. 10 minutes into the second, the Cats fade.

What has changed?
Head of Strength and Conditioning has been with UNH since 2001. (you know through Frozen 4's and Football Playoff Runs, other league championships etc., seems to do a good job)
Maybe what the coach asks for / demands is different? Maybe player motivation is different?
I mean when you hear the coach say how tough it is to need to walk across the street to share facilities with the other college athletes, if only we had a dedicated hockey weight room.
The shared "Jerry Azumah Performance Center" that was most recently upgraded in 2020.
maybe they just don't have that needed motivation to put in the work

Not true. Top scoring defensemen on the team are Fitzgerald (4th overall) and Philbrick (9th).

This is an oft-repeated line from you that is even less true this season than when you've said it in the past. While the results from this team of late are abysmal, their early season results were a reflection of the talent among the group. In particular Lavins, Philbrick, and Winters would garner interest across the college hockey landscape if they were available. Beyond them, Ring, Fitzgerald, Gagnon, Oliver, Cy, and Carr would be welcome on many (or most) rosters throughout college hockey. That is not an exhaustive list and many of the rest of the roster would garner calls from staffs across college hockey.
The staff actually deserves credit for putting a talented roster on the ice this season and deserve all of the blame for that group not being able to deliver the results they're capable of.
Like most of your critiques, they seem to suggest you don't watch the games, or, more likely, you don't understand what you're looking at.

yes, haven't won at the Agannis since the 2013/14 season. Was at that game. Was supposed to be the Jack Parker retirement game but got snowed out. Returned that Monday to see UNH win. I believe we have had 1 tie in there after, but that's it. I do remember a few W's at the 'whitt...maybe the last one was in the Eichel year where somehow, we won that one. Don't quote me. lol

Once again we start out doing well, the roster regardless of who's on it seems to rise to the occasion, then, 'somehow' it all falls apart. This isn't on the players if this is a common recurrence season after season...OR...and this is prob true, UNH isn't that fond of making necessary adjustments and teams figure us out pretty well. UNH teams sadly suffer from I think the latter...I do believe...this is on coaching. Hey, I could be wrong...

Here is a run down of how we've done v BU...I was right our last W at Agganis was in 2013/14 season. JB is correct we are 1-14 in the Souza era.

Going to try to get back to watching UNH more with the ESPN+. Going to be more positive thinking about them than in the past. Though I will never go full sunshine pumping when things aren't great. Only will when we win that 1st National Championship.

Then why have dozens of players shared that they came to UNH because it was their only offer since MS7 came on board?
Others have said that "bigger' schools sniffed around but couldn't/wouldn't guarantee playing time.

A talent roster based on a rule change allowing CHL players eligibility in the NCAA. That reeks of luck rather than a felicity of recruiting talent.
Also, Ive been attending games since the late 70s, have held been a decades long season ticket holder, watch 100% of the away games either live or ESPN+. I understand exactly what I am looking at and its a team in decline and neck deep in excuses.

While the CHL change did open the door to different talent. It is very disappointing that with that more experienced talent the results are the same.

I believe you ultimately admitted that much of your distaste for Conmy was his spurning you for a high-five in the tunnel while you jostled with the children that gathered. Did that happen again with some of the kids on the roster?
