UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

No, you don't love UNH hockey. What you love is drama and to respond to posts you don't agree with and call everyone names. There's a difference. Maybe try going to a game for once.
Hey Emily as they say in a popular self help group I've heard of 'Keep coming Back' I could use some help around here 😉

What the hell, btw, does that actually mean?

I am confused to which parts of what you quoted is confusing.

Conmy, unfortunately, didn't mesh well (wasn't well liked). That isn't to say Conmy is an a-hole, just that for whatever reason it didn't work and maybe winning would have solved all "the problems" as it normally does.
Let's see if I can say the same thing with different words
- I truly think it is unfortunate that he wasn't "well liked in the locker room" which is what I heard from places that would know.
- I don't necessarily think he is a @ss, probably really frustrated... loosing can be super frustrating I get that
- In sports winning tends to solve (or at least gloss over) a ton of problems, personalities that might not naturally fit together regularly do on winning teams. Frustrations are lower and people are happier when winning.

He centers the first line for one of the best programs in college hockey. You, Meathead, and Buford, used the smear campaign to suggest what? It's good that he left? Are you that lost?

Oh, and by the way, do you remember the series of idiot posts suggesting Conmy really wasn't that good. Norbert a/k/a Meathead and you were pushing that angle pretty hard last spring. How's that opinion aging?

Look you can take well reasoned posts and have a bunch of histrionics, create fake drama, claim a smear campaign and a bunch of other nonsense. Doesn't make any of it true.

1) Sometimes if you just stand or sit in the right place you hear public conversations on the railing or in the seats next to you. Other times you have the actual conversation over a beer. Never do you say who said what or you don't get to hear the information in the future. Thinking otherwise is simply naive.

2) I do think Conmy under performed last year. I think there are some pretty good reasons: a) based on the rest of the team and the last 8 years there is a good chance he needed better coaching - yes I still think it is great coaching in college hockey that makes a difference, b) as a small stature player clearly the best on the team he got lots of physical attention and his game didn't react well, c) probably a pretty good chance he was frustrated, I would be... these are all suppositions. None of these opinions is suggesting Conmy isn't that good - good players even the best scorer on a bad team can have a bad year. Observing it and saying it doesn't make it a smear campaign

3) Maybe UNH is better without Conmy and the problem was all chemistry (doubt it). Maybe all the CHL work happened because Conmy left and the coaching staff had an o'sh!t moment (feels plausible). I generally think winning in college is about acquiring talent, and Conmy has talent. Additionally I think having high end talent leave is a bad sign to other talented players.

4) I think there is a pretty good change Conmy has a fantastic season this year. He is playing on a line with other high end talent which will give him more space to operate and confidence in his line mates. Smaller players tend to do better when they have a little more space to create magic with the puck. I hope it is a better fit for him.

Buford and Meathead cite unnamed sources to make factual reports about players and coaches. I'm not out here making up stories about current and former players and coaches.
Not making stories Corky. I am not going to name who I talk to hence why they are called sources. You are just a sad man who no one likes so you hide behind your keyboard and cry sad tunes.

I've followed this board closely for many years, just never put in the effort to post. But watching potluck the last few months make baseless claims is past the point of insanity. We have briefly met at the games before. I will reintroduce myself at the first game.

BTW potluck, love or hate Conmy as a player I don't really care, but he was a bad teammate. He had a bad attitude and did not hang out with the rest of team outside of the rink, hence why he was not well liked. I'm sure you will accuse of me lying like you do everyone else who won't name their sources. Isn't the point of this board to share insight on the team that’s not necessarily public knowledge?

Conmy has a goal and assist for BC tonight. Figured in both BC goals at Minny. UNH is getting shutout with 10 minutes left in game.

Norbert, oops I mean Meathead, posted last year about Conmys deficiencies.

The BC players must not like him.

Bobo returns as angry man Potluck, how fitting. So did I not tell you that UHN actually looked decent this year? What time is the banner raising ceremony. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Not a chance, Larry. Bobo was the GOAT of UNH posters back in the glory days of the battles with Bandwagon Nation and the Orono Little League. He is also the charter member of the WIS Hall of Fame, joined only by NickUNH (yours truly is only WIS Self-Appointed President for Life and museum/HOF wing curator).

:ROFLMAO: 🏆 :ROFLMAO:

To paraphrase a popular quote from late in the last century, which applies to your libelous insinuation of the GOAT's present-day status, let me just say this ... I served with Bobo on these boards, I know who Bobo is, and Bobo is still a friend of mine. potty isn't worthy to lace Bobo's skates ...

I would hope he would have more points playing with the 7th overall pick.

In the same boat as Emily - I’ve been watching this message board for some time now, posting every so often. But more than anything, it appears to be a whole lot of argumentative-name calling. Generally from a select few (ya know who you are). I love UNH hockey but this board is insufferable sometimes. Find something better to do and grow up.

Safe to say, most of us are happy to be leaving Linsing 1-1 this weekend! Go ‘Cats!!

Its can be hard to take claims about bad teammates at UNH seriously. They often come from the same posters year over year and drip with the same hyperbole and emotion, always directed at the team's better or best players and usually because said player(s) haven't lifted the team to ultimate success - in spite of (often) outstanding numbers and (often recently) a lack of surrounding talent.

Hemingway was a bad teammate, JVR was a bad teammate, Poturalski was a bad teammate, Gildon was a bad teammate and now Conmy is a bad teammate. The list goes on. At some point you have to ask why this topic only arises around UNH's most talented players? The childlike emotional outbursts only raise more questions...

Conmy was UNH's best player (by a country mile) last season. I won't get into the numbers again, but he and Cronin were the ONLY players who scored with ANY level of consistency in the last two thirds of they year. If anyone wanted to be critical there were players much more responsible to target (and the stats reflect that offensively and defensively). But UNH fans reserve their ire only for the best; Its become an embarrassing (for the fan base) badge of honor (for the player).

Its only compounded when the calls come for the end of the roster players to play in said players' place. Give me less of that PPG and team leading scorer and more of that guy who averages four minutes of ice time and one minute in the penalty box per outing; that guy who has never scored a point of any kind and only plays minimally in protected situations they'll type wildly...

BTW - Conmy scored again tonight, putting him on early pace for 24 regular season goals. Unsurprisingly, I'd tend to doubt any of this conversation comes up at BC if he does score 20+. Something, something wins. Something, something surrounding teammates. Something, something no longstanding tendency to eat their own.

Side note - none of this applies to JB, even if I disagree (or at least want to disagree) with his take (which is far more measured and respectful than others), and who I believe would ultimately much prefer to avoid this type of conversation rather than revel in them. A lot of players don't mesh. Taking that outcome to ridiculous extremes reflects more on certain posters than Conmy.

I can appreciate JB's objectivity and grain of salt surrounding what he believes or has been told. Though source or otherwise, I'd hardly consider any chatter gospel in situations like these.

He is playing well and lucky they're only down a goal. Not a lot of offensive zone time for us in the second and only 8 shots on goal...need to get something going early in the third
Yeah..getting terribly outshot (SOG's anyone) ...little forechecking...Sparty wasnt going to get embarrassed tonight!

Still...I think we've got some decent stuff that will only get better; there's alot to build on with the influx of the CHL guys..Chauvette (my auto correct already has him in the mix ).

Dan what say you? (And others who watched/ were at the game)
