UNH Hockey 2023 Off Season Thread Turn and Face the Strange

At this point am hoping one of our UNHer's still in the game (Pesce/Foegele) go far; noticed you did not mention the Canes as a contender? And Edmonton seems like they can put it together. At this point, and after what happened to the Bruins, I guess anything is possible. Anyone but Toronto, and of course, the Panthers. HA!

Wouldn't it be something if Bruce Cassidy takes the VK all the way? (VK all the way; kind of has a nice ring to it).

I think Carolina may well be the frontrunner for the Eastern Conference title at this point, 'Ref. The Rangers and Devils will settle their score tonight, and the relatively rested 'Canes will have home ice on top of that, so I think they're odds-on to take it to the Finals. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Florida put the Leafs in their place, but I don't think Florida has it in them to knock out the 'Canes OR Rangers.

In the West, I expect Vegas to plow past the surprising Kraken, and I'm leaning towards Dallas to knock out Edmonton, which I've referred to as Toronto West a few times for their playoff struggles. Then Vegas over Dallas.

B's cannot beat themselves up over Cassady possibly getting to (and possibly winning) the Cup Finals. He is a guy who had a limited shelf life - not unlike Gerard Gallant and NYR - and part of me is rooting for Spudsy to take the Rangers all the way. He was a fantastic gutsy and talented player who got injured just as the Red Wings were rising towards their prime Cup era runs. Wet dream has him falling short, former linemate Yzerman hires him in a few years when the Wings' young crop is maturing, and Gallant reaches the pinnacle back where is started for him.

'Ref, if I had to bet my life, I think if you're rooting for the 'Canes, you and Pesce will be happy campers shortly ...

State
Here's one from the WMUR archives, I can see bespectacled Snives denying he's in this one too ... ;-)

The two bespectacled guys in this clip are:
1) David Nielsen, who inherited the job of “maintenance man” for the Old Man around 1991 from his father Niels who had begun his work on the Old Man in 1965. All of their work with the turnbuckles, killing lichens and moss with bleach, plastering cracks with fiberglass, etc., was a MBPB effort, IMHO.
2) David Wunsch, NH State Geologist in 2003.

So, yes, I had to bite my tongue in the interview the next day and not say what a waste of time all the human “maintenance” effort had been over the previous 35+ years. There were proposed alternatives that might have shored up the Old Man, but those were expensive and the State was not willing to pay (sound familiar?).

Some good news..Ryan Conmy UNH 2023 recruit made the USHL 3rd team.He had 33 goals which was 4th best in the league.

Scott...honest...did you think there would be a change? Not being a jerk, just curious what you think of the situation (I mean, I know how you basically feel). If ya wanna...

Another name in the hopper

Oh great. Another qualified potential candidate we can ignore.

And it's starting to look like the entire UNH Men's Hockey coaching staff is coming back for another year of fun.

At least we know where Hockey stands in the mind of the new UNH AD. Behind Hoops. Mind-blowing ...

Will need 33 goals from Conmy this coming season for the Cats to have any chance at a double-digit number of wins again. No pressure whatsoever with MS7’s coaching future on the line.

I'm more interested to see how Cy LeClerc / Liam Devlin do this season...development wise that is...Of course Conmy and all incoming Frosh will have the learning curve of D1 hockey to deal with...but yeah, he does look like a promising forward coming in.

That said...the pressure is going to be sky high for that team...or is it?

UNH still looking for 6th defenseman to replace Carfagna. Ryan Siedem to Notre Dame. Makes sense academically, for a kid who went to Harvard undergrad.
Seamus Powell of BC?

Not surprised pretty much what I expected...he's got a better fit with ND as you say, coming from Harvard. Wonder what the 'Cats have up their sleeve for the
needed dman (if that's all there is left to fill at this point? Can you show an updated 'roster'?)

of, say he is...
