UNH Football 2010

gounhwildcats

Go Cats!! Beat Maine!!!
Terrance Fox starts the year off with a 91 yard kick off return. RJ Toman has just hit Jennot for a short TD pass and mid way through the second quarter UNH leads Central Connecticut St. 26-0 in their home and season opener.

Re: UNH Football 2010

First half comes to an end, and CCS hits a field goal on the last play to make the score 26-3 for UNH.

Re: UNH Football 2010

End of 3 and it's still 26-3 for UNH. UNH marched the ball well, but a couple of turnovers kept the score where it is. UNH defense has taken some dumb penalties that kept CCS drives going.

Re: UNH Football 2010

After a missed UNH field goal, the defense gets a pick six by Randy Vines to make the score 33-3 for UNH.

Re: UNH Football 2010

UNH runs out the clock and wins easily 33-3. The only concern today was the kicking game, as they missed 2 PAT's and a relatively easy field goal. Toman looks great, and new comer Dontra Peters had a huge day rushing for just under 200 yards. Terrance Fox had the kick off return to start the game and made some big catches. The defense was strong all day, but took some dumb penalties. Should be another decent year.

To say next week is a test is a bit of an understatement as they head to Heinz Field to take on Pitt. UNH has won 5 straight against D-1A opponents, but conventional wisdom tells me that streak will come to an end this year. This is not Army we are playing. Although Pitt lost in OT to Utah this week, they were ranked number 8 going into that game. None of the teams we've played the past 5 years have been ranked that high. It would be nice if they don't lose by 42. Should be fun though.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Good start to the season. It would be nice to see them hang in there a bit with Pitt next week.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Hoppin on a plane at 7AM tomorrow to head to Pitt for the game... Not expecting much, but it'll be fun to shoot at Heinz Field... I hope! (should I wear a Patriots polo shirt and a UNH hat? :) )

Re: UNH Football 2010

Pre-game show has started. Pretty exciting to be playing a team as highly ranked as Pitt. This should no doubt be the end of UNH's 5 year winning streak against D-1A teams, but it's neat to think of our guys playing in an NFL stadium against a top 25 team (ok, last week they were top 25 :) ). LET'S GO CATS!!!

Re: UNH Football 2010

Second play from scrimmage is a completed pass to Fox which he promptly fumbles. Pitt recovers and takes it to the UNH 16. The play is being reviewed.

Re: UNH Football 2010

The play stands and Pitt gets the ball on the UNH 16. Not exactly the way UNH wanted to start.

Re: UNH Football 2010

UNH defense holds after the fumble and force Pitt to try a 32 yard FG. It's good and the Panthers lead 3-0, very early in the first quarter.

Re: UNH Football 2010

After UNH's first drive stalls, the Panthers take over on their own 44. They march the ball 56 yards and score the first major of the game. PAT is good and it's 10-0 Pitt.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Cats are unable to punch it in and have to settle for a short field goal. 10 and change left in the half and it's 10-3 Panthers.

Re: UNH Football 2010

UNH defense is playing unbelievably well today, as they force Pitt to try another field goal. The 44 yarder is no good and the score remains 10-3 Pitt with 3:25 to go.

Re: UNH Football 2010

With 18 seconds to play in the half the Panthers score their second major of the day. 17-3 Pitt as we head to the dressing rooms. Too bad, cuz the defense had played so well defensively the whole rest of the half.

The offense has to do something besides nothing in the second half. Sounds silly, but it's true.
