UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

Yeah, no average kids on this year's rosters. And Umile's never taken a kid with "issues"...Danny Dries must have forced his way onto the team.

I think people would take you more seriously if you weren't such a jack* when people dare to disagree with you.

Maybe true but I dont like it when someone tries to paint a negative picture of a good kid to the masses before he even shows up. Now even if he is a saint, people are going to be watching him and expecting bad behavior. When he goes on my rep and pretends to be someone else and support it, it shows he has an axe to grind. He was the one who said I had blinders on because I gave him a good rating.

He is wrong, have watched for a year+ and known since he was around 9 or 10. Zero issues, well respected, character kid liked by his teammates. I will say it again, if Steve poapst thought his evaluation was remotely true the kid would have been gone from Steel. Its not true. His first choice was always UNH, he played summer hockey with Boston Junior Bruins and always came to Boston for events.

Third peson singular? Who is he? Wade Boggs, Steve Garvey or maybe Jimmy from Seinfeld???

How could you honestly say you know anyone by merely watching him play hockey when it comes to attitude, etc? Youre a guy who sits in the stands and watches high school games and claim to be the guru on all things recruiting. You're laughable at best.

Where did I say I sat in the stands and just watched him. I only speak on kids I know on and off the ice. USHL is not high school. Have known and watched the kid for 10 years, which gives me a good feel on him. Seeing that Scott Borek used to also coach him with the Junior Bruins in the summer, they know he is, on and off the ice,.

I know first hand. Ive seen him for the last 3 years, interactions as well as players he has played with. Namely in cleveland, its ok I don't take anything you say with any kind of mal intent. You obviously are either his father, or a family friend. Never easy to see someone say something you don't beleive but it is a concensus with many. Which is why Miami never went after him, well for several reasons but thats not here nor there at this point. I wish Jay the best of luck, but I wouldn't come here and speak on it unless I knew first hand.

That's fabulous, but you aren't in position to say a kid is a "good character guy" because of it. I'm sure Charles Manson's mother said he as nice (albeit with a bad temper), too.

By the way, if you said you "watched the kid for 10 years" and got "a good feel on him" while also saying you "didnt not sit in the stands and watch him" sounds somewhat spooky. Did he buy candy out of your van?

Yup, thats it.

Redhawk,
Have waved to the mother and father a handfull of times. Dont even know their first names. Stop with the foolishness. Only you can have an opinion that is reality, if anyone else does it has to be jaded?? Come on

These type of conversations is exactly why coaches dont talk to parents, which you clearly are of a kid from Cleveland. Not me or you.

They talk to guys like Steve Poapst and other respected coaches to find out what a kid is like. Kids who play 100 games for them, practice 150-200 times with, travel 14 hour bus rides etc. Chemistry is a huge part of it.

Umile, Poaopst Borek etc know what they are doing, you and I dont

FYI, Greg Cronin from Northeastern wanted him and offered as well.

Tough to have an honest conversation in third party singular, eh Jimmy>>>>

What exactly is your deal? Who the hell watches kids for 10 years and waves to their parents and drops their names on an internet message board? Wierdo.

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding...

The 3-way rumble between Slasher7, Hokydad & redhawkman10 is over.

The judges cards show a tie - 10-8, 9-9, 8-10.

You will all need to commence this argument on a separate topic on a different thread as this fight is over.

Thanks for all the input.

We will now return to your regularly scheduled programming....

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

HokyDad,
You continue to try and act like you are a big shot and know-it-all. Just in recent weeks, you have been found to be wrong on Cannata starting against PC on senior night and other stuff. You didn't even spell Borek's name correctly.

Don't forget about his terrible insights into BC defensemen, namely Malcolm Lyles, who's been a terrible disappointment and got jumped by a freshman walk on (Alber) in very little time.

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

and on another subject ... Eric Knodel - has a -26 rating for Des Moines. Granted they are not a good team, but -26? Will be interesting to see how he fits in on the big ice sheet in Durham.

Well maybe it is a good thing that by my count he will be the 8, 9 or 10th (if you count the F/D man from this year) on the roster.

too bad. i was looking forward to seeing him, given his size. But the D is solid already (please come back Kessel).

Kessel-Kostolansky
Kipp-Campanale
Beck/Hardowa-Laleggia/Knodel
AIA-Agosta

That's how I see it for next year. I think Knodel is still above Agosta (cut from his ushl team) and AIA (Pavelski would play over AIA if a d man gets hurt for the tournament). Either way, it's a good situation for UNH to be in as far as D goes, and playing time will be dictated by who is practicing well.

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

I think Knodel is still above Agosta.

The info on Knodel is he is a defensive d-man. -26 if you area defensive d-man is down right scary.

Agosta has skating issues as a late starter / converting from roller hockey and is suppose to have a good stick.

Couple of projects?

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

Couple of projects?

I hope so. This program can afford a couple of projects with the experienced personnel they will already have next season. Colorado College (and Michigan State I believe) wanted Knodel to come in for fall of '09, so maybe he regressed this season. I've been following him all season and have been unimpressed.
