UNH 2025 Offseason: Where in the World is MS7?

Pretty cool Wally, but you do realize you are interrupting the UHN shitfest here :giggle: Pretty soon they'll all look down and realize their dicks really aren't that big :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I was trying to point out a great athlete who chose to go to UNH, maybe lift their spirits a little.

I have been surprised there haven't been more UNH players in the portal from the get go. My understanding is many of the players and parents aren't Souza fans. I was expecting mass exodus. I was hopeful that some scoring coming down from the CHL might provide some hope and make the the program a little stickier.

That's why companies are migrating to Texas, Missouri, South Dakota, North and South Carolina to take advantage of tax incentives, fewer regulations and a higher quality of life for employees?

This happened in Asia years ago. Hong Kong was the financial center of Asia. Now it's Singapore. Industries are migrating in the United States as well. The most impressive medical research facility isn't in Boston or SFO, it's the Stowers Institute in Kansas City. I couldn't believe what I saw there. With the cost of drug and device development skyrocketing to $2billion+ per approved drug, companies which are dependent on investment are going to lower cost locales. We live in a mobile world and things change and companies move. Hell, Detroit was once the richest city in the country with its Auto Manufacturing, but with manufacturing facilities in MI, AL, KY, TN, TX, IN, OH that wealth has been dispersed. We all know what a hellscape Detroit has been the last two decades.

Let's eliminate the engineering schools in CA and MA, and you still have Purdue (IN), GA Tech, VA Tech, Carnegie Mellon, Michigan to name a few, all world class engineering institutions which focus on industry application than pure research. Or, Colorado and South Dakota School of Mines, industry specific engineering only schools that have amongst the highest starting salaries and most coveted students in the United States?

Many of the CA and MA schools are a like a Maserati. Great brand name, but when you look under the hood and overall quality, it's junk. As many of my staff have shared to me, all people who attended Ivy League Institutions (and CalTech, CalPoly, Standford,Duke, etc), to a person they said the hardest part of those schools is getting accepted. Once you're in, you're guaranteed a 4.0 with minimal effort. Also, I'll save you the $400k in tuition and share the number one lesson they learned at these schools: "You have a responsibility to take care of your classmates and fellow alumni upon graduation."

These inflated white collar salaries are beginning to disappear. Software Engineering, IT, Cyber Security, Accounting, Finance, Legal and even certain specialties of doctors and nurse are getting replaced by AI. This is being discussed by the C Suites at Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, etc how in the next ten years upwards of 80% of jobs in the industries could be replaced. You could be next. I can only imagine how you'll deal with having to associate with the hoi polloi.

If CT is the land of Milk and Honey, why are people moving out? Never addressed that one...
Connecticut has fallen off a cliff in the 40 years I've been doing business there, it's almost unrecognizable. Even CT old timers realize this.

I don’t need to convince you of anything on your pal Luce Cavanaugh…it’s just comical to watch him living rent free in your head…instead of Cavanaugh you should probably be worried about NIL and revenue sharing because if your head coach can’t win enough games or shake enough booster’s hands to get the Whitt upgrade project done there is NO WAY he’s raising NIL money…which means his recruiting which didn’t seem could get much worse will Most likely drop off a Cliff. BUT what you really should pay attention to is that when the fire whistle goes off in your hometown of Effingwoods make sure you are nearby in case Smitty has a asthma attack and needs help with his BAC device to start his truck so he can do his duty and take in the run…IFYKYK
Great, so you admit Luce hasn't accomplished anything to fill his school's trophy case, which is apparently still as empty as Potty's noggin. Congrats.

He has as many trophy's as your boy MS7 has money in his NIL coffers...you are now playing with the big boys NIL and revenue sharing wise Chuck...but I guess that stuff hasn't hit Durham yet since football is 1AA and America East isnt exactly the breeding ground for NIL sponsorships...good luck when it does....You know what the best thing will be...if he ever does win anything watching your 2 yr old tantrum meltdown on here....that's what's so great about your board...your meltdowns about Mike Cavanaugh....

you must not get down to lower Fairfield county much then...Stamford skyline continues to change, Norwalk as well
I've worked in all of the cities in CT. Pointing out that Stamford/Greenwich is doing pretty well is a gimme, they're tony extended suburbs of NYC.

Working back up the coast ... Bridgeport is a he11scape, Milford is grimy, New Haven is absolutely grim once you get about a block away from Yale campus, and New London/Groton is a dump, propped up by Electric Boat and Mohegan. Hartford is unrecognizable from what it used to be 40 years ago, having lost at least half of the companies that used to make it the "Insurance Capital of the World". Waterbury and Danbury are relics of the past, Middletown, Putnam, the Windsors all have also seen (way) better days. Wallingford ditto. Litchfield County is lovely, but no one lives there. West Hartford and Farmington, plus some of the Gold Coast suburbs like Darien hanging in there in a good way, but as Grouchy has pointed out, both companies AND residents have been leaving the state steadily for quite awhile now. I think CT used to be at or near the top state in the US on per capita income when I was in my 20's. In my 60's, CT looks a lot like West RI.

Before any folks from RI have a conniption ... I have a fondness for Providence, and a lot of the Narragansett Bay communities. But when I look at Central Falls and Woonsocket and even Warwick, I see no discernable difference between some of the CT "hotspots" listed above. Sad really ... casualties of crappy politics.

Darien is more than hanging in there...trust me on that one!!! You are giving New Haven WAY TOO MUCH safe space...you can't really park to see a game at Ingall's without worrying about your car....all the $$ was pretty much always concentrated from Fairfield to Greenwich and that still stands today...The places you mention are carbon copied all over New England....it happened in the 80's when manufacturing left for the south

I knew it ... the hostage video for the 603 Fund did it. I think he was blinking "Ben come rescue me" in Morse code. C'est la vie. 🤷‍♂️
now on to more important things...what do you think MS7 will do with his roster now....do you think Conmy is the first of a mass exodus or will the kids band together for each other and hang tough? Unless he has a pipeline set up in the Q ; the CHL kids may be fools gold...

I'm hearing a lot of interesting stuff may be going on behind the scenes ... might be the calm before the storm, might be much ado about nothing? I don't see a lot of players on the current roster being in high demand elsewhere, and the current coach seems committed to his CHL plan, at least for the coming season.

If there was an obvious recruiting strategy in place, I'd probably feel better ... but the Sweden plan came and went with Engaras, the transfer plan (pre-portal) has worked here and there (Gildon and more recently Hellsten), and we'll see if/when he works the portal this Spring ... if he is still there, of course ...

I have skimmed the new post, and it basically has resulted in 2 things. We need to just ignore Potluck as he is an insufferable human being that knows nothing. The other is that we need to get rid of MS7 but it won't happen. The state is going to cut money from USNH, because Sununu lived on Covid money and our new governor is too dumb to realize that the half a percent on rooms and meals tax might be the solution.

With that...back to a team that will again be at the bottom of the HE standings, what do we expect.

This year 13-16-6. I see that as 9-20-6 next year, maybe fighting for last place again. Can't fight for lower. I will give the portal a week or two and then probably send another email that will be unacknowledged by the AD but can't blame a guy for trying.

Maybe I just stumble into the field house and see who is around.

Maybe she is in row 16 with Hockey Ref... :)

MS7 is not well like, but here is why there is not a mass exodus, no talent.....

the only goos thing about the CHL kids now being eligible is you can jump start a rebuild pretty quickly...you just have to find a right balance between getting the younger kids with talent to commit and then bring them in at the right time with the older CHL kids. In my opinion what you will see is kids go to the CHL teams for a yr or 2 then come back to the US and play in college for a year or 2 before they sign their elc or NDFA contracts. End of the day Hockey East will only get stronger as a league with the CHL kids able to play NCAA hockey now.
Here is my million $$ question to you: Can UNH pay someone 2x + what MS7 makes and should they give e that person a 5 yr fully guaranteed contract? If the answer is yes then I'd say thats al that needs to be done for you guys ...if the answer is a resounding NO or a I don't know/I'm not sure/I think so...then you need to eradicate that hold-up in the Athletic Dept/School President/Board of Trustees first

Uh oh, Ryan Conmy to the tranfer portal
Conmy is gone, but I know this group does not like to talk about him, but it is not a big loss. You can say look at his points, but that is not a tell all. He is the most soft player since VSS (Gildon) and has regressed. Maybe it is the team, or coaching (hint hint) but this is not going to make or break this team.

Honestly, I would have Walsh on PP before Conmy, Big body, likes to hit, and not afraid. Conmy is the Nomar of this team.

Conmy was UNHs leading scorer freshman and sophomore year. But, yeah, he’s not a big loss for a program that rarely attracts highly skilled players. He doesn’t spend enough time battling in the corners. It’s incredible how dumb you are.

Certainly what has hurt UNH the past decade is TOO MANY players like Max Gildon and Ryan Conmy and TOO FEW players like Ronan Walsh...

I reminisce often of the 1998-99 National Runner-Up roster of Tim Walsh, Ryan Harris, Johnny Rogers and Brendan McEniry. My left arm for more 'talent' like them and less of those soft skill guys...
