UNH 2024/2025 Goldberg Edition

Nice article on the extended Ftorek hockey family in today's Union Leader
Cool article and surprised that it was not behind a paywall. Good to see that Robbie’s Needham High teammate Cap Raider is helping grandson Savo Ftorek play goalie at Bedford High. Now, once again, what did Robbie say as he poked Cap in the chest after their team went down by two goals with less than two minutes remaining in a playoff game leading up their state championship?

You may be surprised to hear this from me Darius ... but this is precisely the kind of real-world partnerships UNH has been engaging in that makes the case for the viability, usefulness and importance of the U in our community. Now, if you were gonna tell me that UNH was a major beneficiary of the foolishness that's being doled out for Woke causes by USAID (or perhaps in news to come from the DoE?), THEN I would be super concerned about huge cutbacks. But since UNH has actual valuable results they can point to in all the areas you've cited, and hasn't harmed its institutional credibility with an all-in on the climate foolishness (which I think they've mostly avoided), then UNH is among the good guys, at least in my mind. There is always gonna be a streak of liberalism in academia, I get that, but UNH isn't quite over their skiis on that. As a parent of two UNH grads, I'm grateful both received legitimate career-based educations for the money we paid.

The fact they hosted 45-47 at The Whitt a little over a year ago definitely solidifies them in good standing with me.

It's just the Hockey bit that's annoying me (a lot) these days. And IMO it's one guy who really trampled on that ... and no, it's not the current f coach, or his iconic predecessor ... I think y'all know who I'm talking about ...
Sorry to disappoint you, Chuck, but UNH has been a leading R1 university in climate change research for over three decades and during the 1990s was the headquarters for the GISP I and GISP II ice coring projects in Greenland, bringing tens of millions of dollars to UNH for those projects alone.

At least this weekend ends all the delusional silliness of an at large NCAA bid. Time to focus on reality, which is cold and dark. You can’t begin the climb until you stop digging.
Still mathematically a chance for last place in HEA and a NCAA bid IF we get our win percentage back to 0.500 including a couple wins against BC and Maine. Seven HEA teams in top 14 PWR at the moment.

I was going to express my sense of relief that the 'last in Hockey East, but in contention for an at large bid' narrative is finally dead, but apparently there's still a chance.

Extending Souza was a pathetic decision, and the 3 year length of term is unconscionable. It seems a forgone conclusion UNH will finish last, another new low. They deserve this.

This has to be rock bottom since 1995 when I began watching UNH as a freshman on campus. I expected the loss so that is not my issue with tonight. The issue is again with the coaches, I know everyone is shocked.

There was a little girl upstairs who wanted to ask Devlin to be his valentine, we introduced her to his parents and after the game for the fan skate he came over and was as gracious as one could be. Who was not there to see any of this were the coaches. Another post game event and MS7 and tribe were MIA again.

I talked to a half dozen of the guys and all you could sense is defeat.

3-11-2 with a 17 goal differential in HE. Even if we won every game the rest of the year ( we won't win 1) best we could be is 5th.
