UNH 2024/2025 Goldberg Edition

Can we please have a do-over with AD Ally's MS7 decision, pretty please? MUNHHGA!

Ok, I give up. The closest that I can find on line is the MUNGA, reputedly the toughest bike race on Earth, 1000 km across Southern Africa in five days max.

It's also the name my daughter, nieces and nephews bestow upon my mother as a nickname for "Grandma" :D But don't ask my Mom to help with AD SB's misguided efforts. :p

A case study in how to win friends and influence people by Blue Skies, our AD f/k/a/ SB and MS7. The logic of undermining the most avid of UNH fans has never made sense nor has been adequately explained to the public.

MS7 appears to want to be a one man band when every true leader knows that delegation of authority and responsibility is his friend.

A couple of brief thoughts, but first, why is your "sort of coach" called MS7?
I enjoyed UNH's half season in the sun, except when they took advantage of my physically (at that time) undermanned Huskies. Your coach seemed to do just enough that your AD, to her great relief, could somehow justify extending him. It would appear to have saved her the effort and $ expense of a search as well a serious $ commitment to recruit the kind of coach that could attract and coach the kind of talent you had before Umile's whistle kind of faded away.
I know it's not my business, and no one has asked me, but I don't understand why UNH accepts such mediocrity. If your coach doesn't get his act together, the U. should bite the bullet and buy him out. A successsful transition should bring increased ticket sales and donations which should justify the fiscal expenditure. Does this seem reasonable?
BTW, if you ever think your ticket prices are high, visit Denver's ticket site. You will gasp when you see what their fans happily pay to watch their Pios.
Last thought. Ryan Conmy is an exceptional talent. I hope you can hang on to him for four years.

MS7 is my shorthand reference to Mike Souza and his jersey number as a UNH player.

Someone else (Snives?) threw his hands up at MUNHHGA earlier (Make UNH Hockey Great Again, I assume)?

Sometimes we speak in code on here. I'll take the blame for starting it many years ago, but we have fun with it.

Your post is a good one otherwise, and makes several common sense observations and conclusions that most on here are down with. The only bit I'll add, and it's not particularly earth-shattering ... it's harder to be really good at something, and succeed on a higher level, than it is to be pretty good or mediocre, and depend on the generosity of other mediocrities to keep being mediocre. UNH Athletics - especially now, with Coach Hubbard working down at NC State - is the Home Office of Mediocrity. the Clearinghouse of Glad-Handers and Get-Along-ers. And that's not gonna change until they put someone in charge of Athletics who focuses on hiring winning coaches. Simples.

MUNHHGA - make UNH hockey great again!

Oh, of course! How embarrassing that I could not see that.

Ryecheers, if you are still here, another favorite shorthand introduced by Chuck years ago is the MBPBEGAM initial round of the Hockey East post-season.

Of course, for the old timers, there are the eternal chestnuts of "Bandwagon Nation" and WIS (not Wisconsin).

I’m pretty sure he was the milk carton guy…I forgot about those. He put Ben Bishop on one. And someone dug up Patrick Eave’s computer project where he posted a selfie in a maroon speedo and posted that as a response.

If memory serves, his calling cards here also included Hindenburg photos and doctored images of a beach ball in the UNH net.

All of it a long time ago. Has he left the forum?

Which stands for Make Believe Playoffs Because Everyone Gets A Medal - i believe!

Close, d.gerry. Just substitute “Phony Baloney” for “Playoffs Because” :)

Meanwhile, we are less than 30 hours until the puck drops at the Whitt for our inaugural game against the LI Sharks.

Please discuss. :)

Thanks for the translation. I might not have come up with that on my own.
Good luck with the Sharks tomorrow night. They've played at NU during their 3 real seasons and showed improvement in each game. It's sometimes hard to take them seriously when you seen their unis. They badly outshot Notre Dame in their split at South Bend two weeks ago. They try to play a heavy, banging game. So bring your powerplay - if and when you find it. HA, look who's talking. NU is 0 for whatever on the PP. Crossbars don't count!

I was a bit off. How could I forget Phony Baloney?!? As far as LIU I honestly don’t know what to expect, though I do believe anything but a thorough trashing of the Sharks will be seen as a disappointing result. MS7 needs to right the ship fast and it better start tomorrow night.

Not much excitement on this thread, what with the LI Sharks coming to town for the first time, like ever. :)

Just d.gerry and NU’s Ryecheers so far.

Hope that the Cats are not looking past the Sharks to the Huskies next weekend, as every game counts now if UNH is going to match their win total from last season.
