UNH 2024/2025 Goldberg Edition

Who would you suggest for the forth line Snives? Just asking.

I would prefer all first- and second-year skaters, assuming they are healthy. So, that would mean replacing the two seniors with Turner and Walsh today, as the seniors have had 3+ years to show that they cannot play the game.

The end boards sound healthy every time a shot hits them...

And yet we still had 27 SOG over the first two periods.

UNH PP now 2 do 21 on season, including 0 for 5 tonight, with 50 seconds of 5 on 3. But, hey, at least MS7 did not station two guys behind the PC net for the 5 on 3. Then again, UNH lost all five FO’s to begin their PP’s.

Also, not a fan of the dump and chase on the PP.

A few 'fire souza' chants out there. Oh well..
Borgiel stands on his head.

Onto LIU.

0-7 on the power play tonight including a 5-3. Fire souza chants starting tonight. 11 wins might be the over.

Sitting at 2-2-1 I don't see a path to 20 wins

This gets you to 11-15-6

Something does not add up. The 29 games as you list yield a record of 11-13-5, or a season record of 13-15-6 when 2-2-1 from first five games added.

But I think that we still reach 20 wins, even if not the Garden or the NCAA’s.

Borgiel was very good but … Devlin had him sprawled out on the ice and couldn’t lift the puck 10 inches to get over the pad. The diving glove save looked awesome too, but if the shooter roofs it Borgiel can’t possibly reach it. We skated well enough to find a win, but are back to not being capable of finishing. If this is their best time of year 11 wins is optimistic. Nevertheless I’ll take the over and go with 14.

Exactly what Mr. Hr said about roofing the puck...yeah 14 W's is optimistic.

Another rough night.

Whole not as sluggish as Friday, the team seemed flat and struggled to make clean, crisp passes and control the puck for any length of time. PP is predictable...dump, chase and struggle to keep control.

Comny is struggling with additional pressure/coverage much like Cy did last year. Trying to do too much thinking he can win a game single handedly.

Babbage had his moments and Player gaining confidence.

Fire Souza chants were heard.

Aerosmith said it best...same old story same old song and dance my friend!

Agree with your Conmy POV...the team seems so tight...forced. LIU not to be overlooked...

Must have miscounted somewhere. I still don't see a path to 20 wins. Even if you give them the two exhibition games still don't see it

Agreed, LIU should not be overlooked by MS7 and his team. LIU (2-3-1) just beat Notre Dame (5-3-0) away, which besides split with LIU also beat St L., Clarkson, Alaska, and Wisco.

I still do not understand what happened between last season’s and this season’s UNH teams, as other than the goaltender switch, the teams are essentially the same. I thought that Whale played fine in the game that I watched on NESN yesterday, although obviously he did not play well in the Friday night games against Quinnipiac and PC. My only conclusion is that the coaching staff has slacked off following last season’s laurels. If that is the case, I place much of the blame on the AD for extending MS7’s contract.

A few fun facts to chew on...this season..thanks Ryan

0-10 this weekend on the power play (2 for 23 ish)
have given up 19 goals in 4 games
16 of the 20 the goals scored against UNH this season have been 5 on 5.
1 short handed goal.
9 of those goals came from this weekend (all 5 on 5). We’ve scored 8 goals on the 5v5

No where to go but...up?!?

The weight of expectation does strange things to a team. Last year, they were Hockey East afterthoughts until they opened a firing salvo against BU. They had nothing to lose and played loose and with grit.

This season, with a taste of success and the pressure MS7 has on him to succeed, they team appears to be playing awfully tight, cautious even (despite the dumb penalties). Crisp passing and basic execution is non existent, PP is subterranean and Whale is a bandaid on a gunshot.

I hope the paramedics are positioned behind the bench because with each passing game, MS7 looks more likely to have a stroke or will implode.

In contrast to his former boss Nate Leaman, whose Friars won it all ten seasons ago, something MS7 will never come close to doing. In fact, MS7 may never get his team to the Garden or the NCAA’s, thanks to Umile.
