UNH 2020 Off-Season Thread: That Rinky-Shrinky Thang And Other Lively Banter :D

USCHO box score says Pierson got the first one.

No idea what's right or wrong ... but 3 points to start the weekend is a very good thing!!

Correct you are! And I must've missed the penalty shot somehow? Geeze. That's what I get trying to watch both the 'Cats and the B's! Yes...that's a real good start...

Man, I watched a little of the Ottawa v Canadiens last night; if you haven't seen Tim Stutzle play he's something else. Of course makes me ask the 'what might have been' q but, he wasn't destined to be a college hockey player.

Here's to the weekend will we see a full 60 out of the 'Cats? Let's go!

Stutzle figured in all three Senator goals (goal and two assists) for the 3-2 win.

JvR got his sixth goal of season tonight on a beautiful tip on the PP at the beginning of the third, after he drew the penalty late in the second, and it looked like it might stand for a 1-0 win until the B's made yet another third period comeback.

And, our Puddy Cats delivered tonight, especially the goalie.

Scott, time to come back to your thread; we won!

Eriksson, I haven't seen glaring mistakes, but -9 is getting to suggest not an anomaly. [Edit: A single season of +/- is a bad indicator, and in the past he hasn't been worse than his teams, so this is an outlier.] I previously commented that his role on the PP is not great, as he isn't the puck lugger, or the type to break down the D with a change of direction.

Why does he have to make me look bad with a deep rush last night?

Did it again, breaking the forecheck and a nice clean headman. And Reid with a pullback gets around the pointman for a shot, Crookshank rebound.

Nice win last night. Could have gone sideways with a couple of plays, but Robinson was big. Crookshank is a house on fire.

At least I got that right -- Cafarelli making a very good opportunity with a deluxe touch pass back to the slot for Ward's one-timer.

And Chuck, as a parent of two college frosh, whose friends are at colleges everywhere, including UNH, rest assured, the kids are finding things to do. (My goodness, those SEC schools.) They're not bored, even if its not the college experience of our days. The 14 day quarantine is a big "punishment" because it stops the interactions they are having.
The cynical part of me wonders if the ability of students to attend helps justify not rebating the student activity fee.
That said, I think its low risk to get the fans there, as long as they are spread out enough. We're almost there. Heck, the girls' UNH friend already got her first shot (even as my parents await their first shot next Friday) Not sure how that works.

Thanks for that!

Chuck would do well to listen to yours truly ;)

I'm not here to invalidate your personal experience with your kids, 'Watcher ... however, I do have semi-regular contacts with about two dozen current and former summer league players who are at various stages of their college careers at a wide array of schools - some still playing competitively at those schools, others who just enjoy playing competitively in summer league with their old teammates and even-older coach (c'est moi) - and stories I'm hearing from them as we begin to plan for this coming summer league season do not mesh with what your kids are experiencing, or with what Drew reports. Bored out of their socks, most of them, to the point where I'm hearing from many of them unsolicited about the summer, rather than me having to chase down commitments, as has been the usual routine for the better half of a decade now.

No doubt, the world is changing, and maybe the information reaching all of us is coming through different filters? But I still think if UNH were to try this, and capped attendance at 500 students, there would be a line that's longer than 500 kids.

That's all I've been saying, and I'm sticking to my guns. :-)

If I had a draft I'd obviously go Crookshank #1, but Ward at #2 is close. Just caused a turnover on PP.
Of course, Robinson is in there, but goalies are hard to judge.

At this rate, Eriksson might creep into your Top 5 by the end of tonight's game, 'Watcher ... :-)

Wasn't pretty at times in the first, but, we dug it out with an amazing THIRD PERIOD and the antics of Angus et al. Super sweet shortie by Engaras and they were off and running. Taylor was tested at the end alittle and we found a way to win this one. Great weekend 'Cats! 'Watcher is right; Angus is a house on fire!

Great comeback, Norm Bazin must be tearing his hair out ... the idea of ANY Coach Bazin team blowing a 3 goal lead in the 3rd period is such a foreign concept, but kudos to the 'Cats for finding a way to a two win weekend. Even if it's "only" a two point win, a win is a win. And a Ty Taylor sighting to boot, eh? Lots of things we could get nitpicky over, but I'm not gonna let that interrupt a rare "feel good" moment for this year's team - perhaps one that could form the basis for a reversal of fortune for the balance of the RS schedule (whatever that ends up looking like)? There I go again, hopelessly optimistic on a pair of W's ...

Ill bite TyK v Maine?

Good guess. TyK had two 5-point games during '16/17 season, 4 assists against UMass on 23 Oct. '15, and 4 points against Omaha on 31 Dec '14

I believe the answer is Stevie "Mr High and Wide" Moses, who scored 4 goals in a game twice in his senior '11/12 season, against Dartmouth on 14 Jan '12 and against Huntsville on 26 Nov. '11. Those 8 goals were part of a 22 G, 13 A season.

Calling Scott, please come back to your thread. We swept the mighty Osprey this weekend!

EDIT: Oopsy, Patrick Grasso scored 4 goals against Merrimack on 29 Oct. '16. Also, another UNH player to score 5 points in a game before Angus Crookshank was Kevin Goumas, on 3 G,2 A, against Denver on 24 Nov. '12.

Watching the highlights was awesome to see the 'Cats score 4 unanswered goals...regardless of how UML is doing etc that was a real treat. Could it be we have turned a corner here? On another note Sens fans are clamoring to sign Angus...fingers crossed he stays for his Senior season but not holding my breath.

4 RS games left?
