UNH 2020 Off-Season Thread: That Rinky-Shrinky Thang And Other Lively Banter :D

Hope a pep band is included in that. If you're looking to create atmosphere the two nuclei are the cowbell and the band, everything (or everyone) follows.

Per today's article in the Union Leader the band will be there, but without wind instruments.

If UNH gets anything out of these two NU games, I'll be pleasantly surprised ...

Great job by UNH to allow a limited number of fans. The band and a limited amount of students will ad a ton to the atmosphere for the players.

In other news, heard that HE has created a 'power index' for the play offs; UNH sits at 9th above Merrimack and UVM. That's all I got on that.

So, drums, cymbals, and cow bell?

Meanwhile, HEA games played public service announcement: UMass 19, PC 18, UNH and Yukon 17, BC 15, NU 13, Maine 10, UML 9, BU and UVM 8. You are welcome.

You left out Merrimack (14). Otherwise, thanks!! :-)

There has to be an incentive built into HEPI which incentivizes programs to play games, not sit on the sidelines. Otherwise, why the heck would BU ever even try to play another RS game? I say, alternate format seeds teams by total games played.

Alternate format: Week One, stepladder format, single elimination, better seed hosts. Tuesday, #11 UVM vs. #10 BU, then Wednesday, winner vs. #9 UML, Friday, winner vs. #8 UMaine, Saturday, winner vs. #7 NU, Sunday, winner vs. #6 Merrimack for entry into next stage of playoffs.

Week Two: Wednesday single elimination, #3 UNH vs. stepladder winners, #4 UConn vs. #5 BC. Friday single elimination UNH/Field vs. #2 PC, UConn/BC vs. #1 UMass Flagship. Sunday, single elimination Finals, BC vs. UNH. :-) :-) :-)

Guessing only UNH and BC fans will be on board with that ... but it's my plan, so what?!?!?

Metcalf Lives!!!!!!!!!

HEPI has UMaine (2-7-1) in 8th, just above UNH, and has BU (at only 8 games) at the #2 seed.

Let's just say I'm very suspicious of the advanced mathematical formula purportedly being used.

Mathematical Formula = large clusters of small bills in paper bags outside Quannapowitt HQ ...

So HEPI actually stands for Hockey East Payola Incentive ?? :-)

Seeing that UNH paused all in-person classes as of today because of a Covid outbreak, I wonder if any students or the band will be attending the game. Just read that the student hockey experiment has been postponed. UMass also paused all athletics, games and practices, for 2 weeks.

I believe the UNH President memo said no attendance at the Whitt.

Have to wonder if word of UNH's apparently-aberrant behavior in even considering the possibility of having a limited number of students in the stands tonight proved to be just a step too far for the horrified folks in academia in these here parts?

The timing is just a little too much of a "coincidence" for me to stomach. Can only imagine how many texts or calls Dean Dean received this week from his peers across academia about Marty's proposed "experiment" ... "What are you thinking? You're making the rest of us look bad!!" For the first time in a long time, I find myself on the AD's side, crediting him for trying to do something just a little bit different to give students and fans some hope.

I'll continue to post here, but it'll be a LONG time before I spend another dollar at or for UNH ...

Most students are simply hoping to finish the semester on campus.

With 63 new cases in Durham....not looking good. Kids just came back, right? Brought it back with them from their break? Surprised we are playing at all this weekend...but grateful.

Didn't realize you were also a virologist in your spare time, 'Ref? Nice to have a scapegoat.

Yes, shame on the kids for living their lives ... seeing there's no grave danger to any of them.

I guess I'm just shocked things didn't change after January 21st. He promised he had a plan ...

Appears the new "plan" is to shut down Florida to stop the state from making the rest of them look bad. Saint Fauci is highly concerned about the number of people who can be infected by passing around a Super Bowl trophy. :-) Shutting down Durham is child's play.

Grateful?!? Please don't make me laugh so hard. What a joke. Yeah, I'm SOOOO grateful for a government who can take our rights... and what say do we have? Nadda, nothing, zip! Live free or die, yeah right! Take the *** motto of our plates immediately if not sooner, cause it's the furthest thing from the truth.

Remember when we had personal freedoms and unalienable rights under the Constitution?

Seems like it's been forever ago, but it's only been less than a year (so far).

I'm amazed every day at how easily so many have ceded these rights, and don't seem to care.

The threshold for gratefulness is incredibly low, and getting lower every day ...

wow, I'm just grateful we can have a season....didn't know that was a crime around here. Well, take care everyone. I have been grateful to have had this experience. Peace Out.
