UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

Awesome win. I want to see the video of the calls on Gleason and Hexy.

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

I want my money back (and I didn't pay anything). Badgers played like they were bored...or drunk...or both. Pretty sad when you can't even get the PP set up all night. :(

I'm obviously biased, but they made sense to me. I thought they were both worthy of 5 minutes, although the first one should've probably been called boarding (IMO) and not cfb as it seemed to be from the side. The second was a rather blatant elbow to the head that caused Murray's helmet to slide up his head and blood ended up on the ice. Since the Badger power play was so pathetic, it ended up being moot.

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

Hextall's looked like a good call. The call on Gleason was not a good call in my opinion. I thought it was a clean hit.

our radio announcer was up in arms over the Gleason call. I'm curious to see a replay of it.

Good win for the Sioux. Very satisfying.

Kick Gleason and Hextall out of the WCHA! Suspend Hakstol! Give UND the Death Penalty!

Not sure I'd be satisfied with the number of undisciplined penalties that your team took. Against a veteran team that was ready to play, you'd have been buried. Unfortunately, we're not a veteran team and we weren't ready to play.

Your team controlled the night. It seems that they did their film study on Bucky's power play coz they absolutely frustrated the heck out of us. They pressured at every turn, even in our zone and made us look like we'd never run a pp before. Credit due as we had been pretty good till tonight.

Ironically, I thought the first major was more blatant than the second, although I would agree that it was boarding and not cfb. Still a 5 though. Happened right below me and you could see ahead of time how bad it was going to be.

Glad to see that Kristo recovered from the hit he took as he got CRUSHED. Still like him from last year's WJC.

Blood's a moron.

Bucky didn't look ready to match the intensity that Susan brought. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better night.

Win or lose, that was a horrible game to be at. It was like watching New Jersey play themselves back in the day, not that the trap was being used. Just no flow at all.

You won't hear that from me. Neither appeared to have intent to injure, but both looked like penalties in real time.

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

The Hexy hit was to the head and is the right call, especially since it drew blood. If he doesn't extend his arm, clean hit. The Gleason hit is a bit more in the grey area.... he hits him from the side but the wisco player turns toward the boards and almost folds his head off his body. Looked a lot like boarding to me.......
Considering we spent 1/3 of the game in the box.... great win. Way to go penalty kill (even though I wish we didn't have to use it so **** much).:o

What in the world was Hextall supposed to do in that situation? Murray is right next to the UND goal with his head down. If Hextall does nothing, Murray gets an easy shot on net. If Hextall checks Murray, he makes contact to the head and gets called for a penalty. So he's screwed either way. That's crap.

Not give the extra oomph with the elbow to the head perhaps? If he just hits him with his arm at his side, he's fine. He brought it up and then finished with his elbow high in the air. If nothing else, it made it look that much worse.

Re: UND at UW: Let's get hostile, let's get abusive

Upon further review, you will be just below me and to the left and within range. :D

I'm in 204, row A.

If you get hit by a Skittle or a tire iron, it wasn't me.

My favorite seats, when I can get them--up high on the curve. Didn't see any tire irons or skittles come down tonight--sore arm? I thought we'd see something different on the power play to start the third, but not much seemed to change. The Sioux commit a lot of dumb penalties and have gotten a lot of practice on the kill, but I though the Badgers just hung on the the puck too much. Not many firworks tonight, but not many defensive mistakes either. For being so young, this Badger team can play a pretty disciplined defense. Some fantastic goalie play for UW-much of it at our end. I'm not sure how you can prevent that snipe from Gregoire.

Now watch them score nine goals between them tomorrow.

What are you talking about? Hextall made his play on the puck, shifted his balance, stepped into Murray, and lead with his forearm/elbow to the head. The puck was over in the corner when he laid the hit.
Good hockey players play with aggression, but playing with unchecked aggression leads to stupid penalties and serious injuries. That hit was unnecessary and outside the rules. The league has made that exact type of hit a point of emphasis. How can you cry about it with a straight face?

The Gleason penalty was unfortunate. It was a good check that just turned out to be pretty dangerous. It could happen to anyone. I can understand why it was called a 5-min major, but it was really just unlucky.

Just like Bucky, I was off my game. You didn't notice them take out that dude on a stretcher two rows behind you?

Man, I thought you were joking about the long arms and large forehead. You're like two steps back on the evolutionary chart. :D

To your point about my seats, love that view as you can see down both boards. It's actually the section for the parents but this year the entire row behind us is the girlfriends. It's actually not that cool, believe me. Almost all sorority girls and quite chatty.

Gregoire's goal was a tough shot. Not impossible to save, but no shame. Well placed and fast. Bucky's gotta actually score at least one or forget about it.

Jeez, you could tell from up in 204?! I'll have to trim the brows and wear a hat. The guy on the stretcher was a Bucky fan--what, you blind and rubberarmed?

Making it into TWO brows would be a start.

As for the dude, I didn't think he was participating enough during Phil's cheers.

College hockey is facing a conundrum. If a player, say, 6-5" hits a player 5-10" with his shoulder is that contact to the head? These penalties are going to be called according to the new rules. I just don't see any easy solution. Open ice is one thing, but tight areas could be difficult to call.
