Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

BTW if Kluwe doesn't screw up the Extra Point this is all moot...
We can't pin this on him. Keep in mind the special teams (boy are they special) gave up multiple huge returns, and the offense took the entire first half off - so it was a total team effort to lose this game.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

At least the Vikings didn't play the whole game like they did in the 1st half! The score would've been much more lopsided if that would've been the case. Tough loss though.

The Special Teams blew...but yes I can pin it on him because he blew a routine play...it is as much his fault as it is APs.

The only one immune from it is Favre...

But AP needs to be cut! Or benched! Fire Childress! It's HIS fault that the Vikes are only 11-4 and not undefeated! Cut Kluwe too! I hear Nick Folk is available! He doesn't miss! Yeah!

You even suck at being the fake fan outraged :D

Actually, those were almost all culled from various posts, status updates, etc from MN Vikes fans. I find that hilarious.

If one were to ask me, I'd cue up the Tice soundbite, "Ok everyone, calm down..."

I prefer the "enjoy the season" quote...people put way too much into sporting events :D

APs fumbled sucked, Kluwe's screwup stunk, our Special Teams were "Gopher-esque" and the D was...well Denny Green like! The game is over though so I am over it :) I am weird though ;)

Eh, I usually have the "day-after-hangover" but I'm with ya on once the game is over, it's over, in general.

Fact: MN is 11-4.
Fact: They are in the playoffs, which according to the cliche is a "brand new season."
Fact: They can still get the #2 seed.
Fact: despite crapping down their leg for a half, they still came back from 16-0, at one point rattled off 17 unanswered points, and almost won.

It's not like they're Cleveland, Washington, Oakland, KC, etc where a close loss is a reason for a ticker tape parade.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

If Philly beats Dallas, they get the #2 seed no matter what MN does.

Kluwe blew it on a routine play that cost MN a point.

The special teams blew it on a kickoff that handed the Bears ridiculous field position around the MN 20 (essentially handing them 3 points, although the drive was ultimately a touchdown).

AP blew it by fumbling on the 39, giving Chicago a good chance at winning just by driving it a few yards and kicking a FG (though again they ended up scoring a TD).

SG, I think they said Williams had a biceps injury.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

Well according to most fans around here they might as well be those teams :D

Fan reaction is almost as entertaining as the game itself :)

Fire Childress! Cut AP! Bench Favre! Sit all 11 defenders! Fire Longwell!

Or everyone can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the fact the Vikes are going to the playoffs. And hey, as you said, it's a whole different ball game.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

I'd try to be optimistic for the playoffs if this team wasn't so freakin' horrible on the road.

@ Arizona: L (no showed)
@ Pittsburgh: L (competitive but bad luck INT costs them)
@ Carolina: L (no showed)
@ Chicago: L (no showed for a half, sloppy)

Should MN fail to get the #2 seed, even if they survive the first round, they're almost certainly going to Philly. Anyone see a W there? Anyone? Bueller? :p

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

I'm getting tired of my facebook pals jumping all over AP for losing the game. Sure he fumbled at a most inopportune time, but thats not the only reason they lost.

That being said, he really needs to learn that sometimes its better to just run out of bounds, or go down instead of fighting for 5 more inches. I think thats when the majority of his fumbles occur. In that case, he got the first down, thats what the team needed...run out and get the ball again.

Anyone see Anderson missing a FG in '98? Or coming back from a 32 point deficit in the playoffs? Or the Rams losing to the Pats in 2002?

Weirder things have happened. Personally, I think the Dallas December Curse will rear its head this weekend, but that's just me.

The mass exodus of fans on the wagon tonight is astounding (even by normal MN standards).

GB lost to TB! NO lost to TB! And TB SUCKS ARSE. Chicago isn't a great team, but they're no TB. And MN was on the road. Some concern is fine, and expected, but wow. We're talking flip-the-switch-it's-that-time-of-the-month reaction here.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

Welcome to Minnesota ;)

Thank you. Been living here for 32 years. I kinda know the place. ;) :p

What's really sad is that a guy who doesn't give two rips about the Vikes is trying to talk many of you off the ledge. :D
