UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

Here's the current totals of HE recruits from the Heisenberg site. I wonder how up to date the site is, it must be a full-time job keeping track of all the player movements.

UConn - 21
UME - 34
UMass - 33
UML - 11
MC - 30
UNH - 20
NU - 22
PC - 21
UVM - 19

I'm not sure where some of these programs are going find room for all these recruits.

With another week almost done and some more Hockey East commits, Maine is now up to 37 commits, Vermont 20, UConn 22.

06 Harrison Franssen, Oshawa Generals

26 points in 41 games isn’t much on the surface except 17 of those are goals and Oshawa is the worst team in the OHL this season (they got 2 straight finals appearances to pay for). i watched a good chunk of games before they moved their Sharks pick at the deadline and he was always a standout, worked hard and a great shot.

Hopefully he can help us finish more chances. Our Goals per Game has been pretty bad the last few seasons, and while I don't buy too much into public expected goals models, according to Ryan Sikes' last update, Lowell has -16.0 goals scored above expected this year, good for 61st in the country. Just watching every game you can see how snakebitten they are some nights.
 
Lowell has been shut out 5 times already this season, tying 2023-24 for the 2nd most in a single season. The only season they failed to score in a game more often was 2003-04, when they put up a goose egg 6 times.

Add in that they have only scored 1 goal in 6 games as well, so in 11 of 23 games (almost 50%) they've scored one of fewer.
 
Looked up Franssen on NZ, rated as a 3.75*. Interestingly, this is already his highest goal total he's ever put up (as per Elite Prospects).
A game review from December 31st, 2025:
Harrison scored two powerplay goals in this game to give his team the lead in the third period. He plays as the net front player on the powerplay where he does a good job screening and making his stick available. He scored the first goal by tipping a one-timer into the net and his second goal came off of a rebound that he tapped in past the goalie. He was also noticeable in the game for some big hits and toughness.

And this from February 2025:
Franssen is a big forward who plays a heavy game where he use a longer stride and larger size to create his space. Scored a nice goal picking up a lose puck in the slot under pressure and with a spin move, shot the puck on the ice and caught the goalie off guard to beat him between the legs. This goal showed the type of plays that he is able to make using his bigger size and reach. He does a good job at this style below the goal line and along the wall but needs to have a little more spatial awareness when it comes to contact. When he knows the physical altercation is coming, there is a good chance he is able to get his body around the puck and stay square over it to protect it and the space he is commanding. When is surprised by the contact, which was more often that it should have been, this is where he gets into trouble and loses the one on one battle.

I'm still hoping they can add a player who is a pure goal scorer. :) I'm a bit surprised with its proximity to Lowell that they have yet to get a recruit from the QMJH.

I was wondering the same thing. Daniel Buchbinder is out for the season after getting hurt in the first game. Trias Mathurin has only played in 9 games this season and hasn't played since the Maine game in Portland (12/10/25). Not sure what his status is going forward.

sucks to hear about mathurin... really liked his game this year from what i saw, didnt mind blocking shots. Any word on James Johnson getting in to play? You really cant teach his height and i feel he can play.
 
Take it for what it's worth to you, but here's NZ's recruiting class rankings (based on when they see the players coming in):
Incoming Class of 2026, 31 of 63, but that still includes Kroll (3.75), Busch (3.5) and Romeo (3.75), the first of whom is already here and the other two decommited.
Incoming Class of 27, 59 of 59 (4 programs do not have a 2027 commit)
Incoming Class of 28, unranked. According to NZ, 38 programs have an incoming commit in 2028, but Lowell isn't one of them, along with UConn, they are the only two teams without one.

Also, from today's Lowell Sun, the newest Lowell commit Franssen is probably coming in for 2027. He's rated 3.75, so the 2026 ranking when the changes I've mentioned go through would see us drop quite a bit from 31.
 
I just hope the coaches are doing their due diligence and already gauging who's staying and going. They really can't afford to get caught off guard with a ton of guys hitting the portal and not having a plan in place. Boschetto seems to have a good grasp on the current state of college athletics, so hopefully he knows they need to get out ahead of it. Also, I'm getting strong vibes that he's the head coach in waiting. I don't know how much more patience Norm will have with this new landscape and continued mediocre results. That said, if and when the time comes, I don't think it should be an automatic promotion from within. Plenty of external high level assistants and head coaches in lower conferences that deserve a look.
