UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

Someone who is a part of the UML "Blue Crew" (the club that runs the student fan section) says it's unlikely the school is opting in for the roster limits, after all. This would seem to back up that claim; I can't see us using 10/26 spots on defense.
Any idea when there will be an official word on whether they are opting in or not?

I wish they'd just announce it. At this point, we have 6 d-men, 2 forwards and 2 goalies coming in, which already puts us over the 7-8 new faces Coach mentioned. And we only have 13 forwards as of now. The numbers don't add up.

Anyone here in contact with the school about how wretched the student section has been the last few years? In another note if we are looking for a forward, Adam Benak, who is a finalst for the USHL rookie of the year is uncommitted. In his first year, he has a 17/42/59. Kid can score, and with the system we have in place, we need someone who will be able to light the lamp.

Another recruit, '04 forward Cole Lonsdale who played for Nanaimo (BCHL) this past season. Cole was previously committed to RIT.

Congratulations to Cole Lonsdale who has committed to UMass Lowell

Unusual for Norm to heap that much praise in an article for an incoming player, he must be really high on him. Glad to see more quotes emphasizing the need for a better skating team.

The Sun article mentioned that we'd probably be looking at picking up a couple of forwards, so Lonsdale doesn't surprise me. I'd still like to see us get someone that has a history of goal scoring.

be the change you want to see

Student sections usually get good because there's incentives for attendance. You get a few diehards but its hard to drive that bus with normal people unless they're really excited about what they're going to see. Player involvement in campus and talking to students/fans also helps.

Lowell is 35th in their rankings, but it's definitely messed up. It still lists Dolzhenko (3.5*) and Guest (3.75) in our commit list, but doesn't currently include Lonsdale, Misskey and Mathurin (2 of the 3 are 3.75, one is 3.5).

Currently the 2026 rankings have Maine #1, while Lowell is 16. BC is 4th, BU 8th, Merrimack 15th and UMass 20th are the other HE teams in the top 20.

You need to sort by star rating to get more realistic. Even then it is stupid because they often have recruits that aren’t coming in that year whether it be no longer committed or coming in a year or two later.

Yeah. I emailed them about one they still have as a Lowell recruit a few months ago, and of course, they never got back to me or fixed it.

Bowling Green top class this year. For recruiting interesting.

UMass Lowell has received a commitment from Kailin Chen of the OJHL's Pickering Panthers. 21 year old 5'9" left shot forward had a 12-32-44 line in 49 games for Pickering this season. Born in Beijing China, Chen has also represented his home country in many international competitions.

The Heisenberg and Elite Prospects sites has him heading to Lowell, but I believe he's heading to UMass Dartmouth based on below. The Elite Prospects site now has him going to Dartmouth.
