UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

I don't think they will unless they need to. Especially BC and BU. Still going to get NTDP and other high-end USHL guys to commit years before college, but if they have an immediate need to be filled they might pull an over-ager that doesn't have any more CHL availability. Very curious to see how the CHL players perform across college hockey next year.
BC and BU are both reportedly recruiting Michael Misa of the OHL. Every team will be recruiting players from CHL.

Interesting to note that BC, BU, UMass Amherst and Northeastern have yet to go that route.

Do you think the young guys will be enticed to leave the CHL early to come play college? I feel like they'd only be inclined to do so once their eligibility runs out but NIL could play a part in that.

According to Heisenberg's 2025 list, Lowell is tied with Quinnipiac for the fifth most recruits out of the CHL since the rule changed. Only teams ahead of the them are Michigan Tech and Bemidji with 5 each, and Bowling Green with 10. It's encouraging that we've been able to land high-level guys from those leagues and I have high hopes that they'll be able to have an immediate impact next season. They've all played a ton of games against the best junior players in the world.
This would imply that norm is still well regarded in general hockey circles

The current rule is only 3 overages per team. So if you are heading into your overage year and you have to try out for one of the overage spots you might be worried about making the team. So to mitigate this risk you would want to see if you can go NCAA instead. Keep in mind going NCAA is considered playing up since you are playing against guys on average 2 years older than you(if you are heading into your overage year). If you go to NCAA at 18 you are playing against guys 4 years older than you on average. So that is still a noticeable difference in play. I think the CHL will become the premier development junior league and the premier feeder for college hockey in relatively short order. I think BCHL will lose a fair amount of their high end players to major junior.

- Easton Jacobs is still on the Injured Reserve list.
- Lucas Busch is injured and hasn't played since 12/13/24.

If you get a chance, check out CHL to NCAA Recruiting Megathread, there's some good information.
This is linked in that thread but bumping it here for visibility- if you want to watch Austin Elliott play tonight for free tonight, Saginaw @ London is this week's freeview OHL game.

Knights twitter already posted that Elliott is starting. If he puts up tough numbers, it might just be Michael Misa & Co doing Michael Misa & Co things. Saginaw can score a lot, and they give up a lot too. Their most recent meeting in november was a 6-5 win for London. So while there's the possibility his numbers come out rough, you can see what it looks like when he needs to be strong in front of very potent offense.

If you miss the live stream, it will be on youtube in full afterwards.

Without any insider knowledge whatsoever, I’m preparing myself for a few significant departures. So few programs are immune to losing a key guy or two and agents are constantly looking to elevate their clients. Maybe we get lucky and this freshman class looks at themselves as a group that can make a serious run in a year or two.

While I think the portal is a good idea, this is just crazy. I get the AIC kids, but 10 from Northern Michigan and Merrimack, 9 from Omaha. Wow. And it's just starting.

I'd like to see Lowell go after some of these Top Transfers if possible the kid from Niagara looks like he can definitely score Trevor Hoskin (12, 27, 39/ 3 yrs left) or Tyler Wallace (14, 12, 26/ 2 yrs left). Coach Boschetto has some ties to Niagara

Three North Dakota players that are NHL draft choices just entered the portal, including NCHC rookie of the year and a Blackhawks first round pick, Sacha Boisvert.
I wonder where he'll end up and how much it will cost. Crazy.

Mark Divver tweeted earlier he’s hearing Boisvert is going to land somewhere on Commonwealth Ave (shocker). Buccigross then tweeted not too long ago that Boisvert was NOT going to BC so BU it is.
