I don't doubt that at all actually, just not sure who. I know one player (Conderman) only played 6 games this season but he was injured I believe for the first few months. Brickler (10 games) and McCoy (6 games) both actually played this weekend. That really is it for guys on the current roster that didn't play much, other than the aforementioned Mihailovich.

Monty, On defense I was also including Joe Houk (Jr), the transfer from Hamilton that someone mentioned a while ago.

I'm not sure how healthy Brickler has been. He was in the starting line up to open the season at Mankato but got hurt in the first game. I thought he looked good during that game but he hasn't been able to get back in the line up on a regular basis.

I wonder if Dylan Shapiro and Connor Hellebuyck will play another year of Jr.s.

The other thing to take into consideration is possible early departures...kids like Wilson, Carr turning pro after the year...I hate to say it because I love the college game, but things like that happen a lot...You have to take into account player's ages and other circumstances. The other thing that could happen to dwindle down the numbers is the new coaching staff tells one of Blaise's recruits to play another year of juniors as a way to get him not to come. That happens, too.

Joe Houk - 6'0", 204lbs Defenseman from Richboro, PA.

Played two seasons under Coach Bazin at Hamilton College

09/10: 4-15-19
10/11: 17-16-33

He'll be a junior eligibility wise. While Hamilton is D3, he put up some impressive numbers. Has good size, and whats more, Norm thought enough of him to bring him along. Interesting to say the least.

Great point, forgot about him. So just to correct this:

Here's where the UML roster stands as of today for next season, based on the assumption that all the players that could come in either 2012 or 2013 will come in 2013:

Defense (11):
Senior: Malcolm Lyles
Juniors: Daniel Furlong, Joe Houk (RS), Chad Ruhwedel
Sophomores: William Eiserman, Zach Kamrass, Micki Mihailovich, Jake Suter
Freshmen: Greg Amlong, Christian Folin, Dmitri Sinitsyn (RS)

Forwards (18):
Seniors: Riley Wetmore, Colin Wright
Juniors: Derek Arnold, Josh Holmstrom, Derek McCoy, Joe Pendanza, Shayne Thompson
Sophomores: Tyler Brickler, Stephen Buco, Mike Conderman, Terrence Wallin, Scott Wilson
Freshmen: Adam Chapie, Mike Colantone, Michael Fallon, Logan Johston, Ryan McGrath, Dylan Shapiro

Goalies (4):
Juniors: Marc Boulanger, Doug Carr
Sophomores: Brian Robbins
Freshman: Connor Hellebuyck

So at this point, that leaves us at 33 on the roster. That's just a huge number. I stated this the other day, but I can see Boulanger also leaving. I'm not basing this on anything but that there's no point in having 4 goalies on your roster.

Assuming no one leaves, the class breakdown for 2012 then would be:
Seniors: 3
Juniors: 10
Sophomores: 10
Freshmen: 10

Looking forward one more year, just to see if there's potential holes on the roster ... 2013/2014 roster right now looks like:

Defense (11):

I remember when Hellebuyck commited, he had mentioned that a chance to play next year was what helped make his commitment ... so I'm not sure how that would play out.

I really hope not. I'd think Wilson and Carr (with only one good year at the college level) would want to come back, and everything I've heard about them basically ... well, it would be a huge shock if either left.

There's really one recruit left that committed to this program under Coach MacDonald (Corey Scammon), and I believe he'll come in for 2013 anyway as I'm not sure if he can take the step from Cushing right to college. The rest of the recruits all committed to the new coaching staff.

He was a DIII All-American and the Player of the Year in the NESCAC.

Like I said, I love college hockey and wished everyone stayed for three years at least, but I've seen great kids who did well in the classroom leave early. Kids who should have left and kids who shouldn't have left. There is no sure thing. The thing with Carr is he is older, had a breakout year, might be told by his family advisor that his stock will never be higher...

I could see Carr jumping if he wants to reach for the spotlight... I dunno... depends if he really has NHL potential or not. Wilson... I'd think it's too early... good show, but i'd imagine he'll be around for at least another year... unless he goes crazy during the playoffs and puts up like 14 points in 8 games.

edit: let's remember that even in a normal years there is always a player or two who leaves for various unstated reasons. Don't want to project who would but its the order of things.

I think I can state with a fairly high amount of confidence that the odds of Carr leaving after this season are extraordinarily low. He'll likely be in an NHL rookie camp or 2 this summer, but you can expect him back in Lowell in the fall.

I remember talking about Wilson to someone no longer in the program and he said that Wilson and his family thought education was very important. There's no doubt he might leave early, but I agree with others, after his freshmen year would be surprising.

Carr has had one good season after a rocky start. I imagine if he has another yr like this yr his stock would go up much more than just having one yr under his belt. Not trying to diminish what he has done, I just think one yr isn't enough to make it lucrative enough for him to leave.

Currently playing for the Austin Bruins in the NAHL, Folin has a 11-18-29 in 49 games, with an amazing +40. He's got a 4-5-9 on the power play and a 2-1-3 shorthanded. Both 2/1/91, he's 6'3, 215 pounds from Gothenburg, Sweden.

Edit to add: According to this, he did receive a partial scholarship, so he's not a walk-on.

It looks like at one point Folin was a Bemidji State recruit.

doubtful he will make a ushl team so most likely juniors(pay to play) here.

In the USHL last night, Chicago and Youngstown played to a 5-2 Youngstown win. UML recruits JT Stenglein (2-1-3) from Youngstown and Chicago's Michael Fallon (1-1-2) were the #1 and #2 stars respectfully. Stenglein now has 30 goals on the year, tied for the third in the USHL.

Penticton's huge winning streak finally came to an end last night as well in the BCHL.

I'll post up a full recap tomorrow.
