UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

It's one thing to be an "older" freshman, but I don't anyone really likes seeing 21 year old freshmen. I graduated from college at 21.

Yeah, I'm in this group as well. I used to make fun of Maine for their 25 year old seniors... and I really would prefer not to be recruiting too many of them. Occasionally is fine, but not 6 in a class.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

1. 21 year olds don't decommit
2. If MC starts recruiting players under 20, wouldn't that bring them back to square one (being out-recruited by BC/BU/UNH/Maine)?
3. Didn't Sean Walsh do the same thing back in the 90s?

the vast majority of Walsh's key players were young guys. All BS about the older recruits. MC takes it to a whole new level and it is kind of a joke.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Speaking of the third, Shane Eiserman was named to the 22-man roster for the U.S. Under-17 Select Team which will compete in next month’s Under-17 Five Nations Tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
According to USHR, Shane Eiserman will be heading to UNH for the fall of 2014. I'm not sure if Lowell was ever in the picture. He also visited BU, but they didn’t make an offer at the time.

Well that totally sucks.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

I do hope that this doesn't mean that Chris Eiserman won't wind up at Lowell... ****, I'd really hoped we'd get all three of them to want to play together. :(

That would have been nice. The USHR article mentioned he attended UNH games growing up. UNH did a nice job getting him early, still 3 years before he arrives in Durham.

The way kids commit and decommit lately I just wait until they are in uniform before I believe it.

UNH is on quite roll as they just got another top recruit to commit, Jordan Masters (4/30/94). According to USHR, Master's was one of the most heavily-recruited kids in the region, he picked UNH over RPI, BU, BC, and Vermont.

Yep, three huge pickups for them in the last week.

Newburyport Daily News article on Shane Eiserman.

While Shane said playing with his brothers at UMass Lowell would have been "a dream come true," he said he did not feel pressured to follow in the family footsteps.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

nice article but Newburyport Times always butchers the facts. just like last year when they said that the Freeman kid was being looked at by BU and othr schools. Bavis at the time said, "who"?
What does the times consider n shore? Newburyport and Rowley? 2 n shore kids on mc had more goals and pts.

good player but I will be surprised if ever ends up going there. 6/7 teams in 7 years and that wont change based upon brothers jumping around as well

You would be surprised if he ends up at UNH?

6'4" Forward Recruit Ross Olsson ('94) from Lowell's backyard in Billerica picked NU for 2013 or 2014.

NU just added another recruit, Daniel Willett-D (NJ Rockets (Metro)). He's a '96 , it's unbelievable how young some of these kids are.

Well commiting now is like changing underwear. They commit, they decommit. What I wonder is why a parent would allow this? My kid is a 96. The day I would let him make a decision about the rest of his life at 15/16 is the day I should have my head examined. You don't know what the program will be like, who the coach will be, what the kid we be wanting to major in (OK, I know they are all going to the NHL but they need to @ least have passing interest in a major), whether he will improve and get even more promising offers, etc.

He's the second '96 from that team to have committed this week, the first was to Yale.
