UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Cam Gaudet (F) will also be a Sophmore, that makes 33. Something has to give. Maybe a couple of the incoming defensemen will play another year of junior. It will be interesting to see what the final roster looks like.
Thanks, forgot about Gaudet. I've amended my list.

I can't remember the rule for DI hockey, but is there an age limit (21?) that you have to start by? The only two '92s on the blue line coming in are Saucerman and Eiserman, and I'm not sure if they get all that much benefit at this point by waiting another year (they've both been in juniors for two full seasons now).

Edit: I think IIRC, the rule is that if you play juniors after you turn 21, you lose a year of eligibility.

I'm not sure of the age limit either. I'm assuming that Eiserman and Saucerman are the only incoming D that can play another year of Junior.

IIRC, I don't think its necessarily that early... 22? 25? Basically they don't want any more 40 year olds... it just looks bad for some reason.

Found a little blurb here.
In Division I only, if a student-athlete has participated as an individual or as a team representative in organized sports competition, that kind of participation during each 12-month period after his/her 21st birthday and prior to initial full-time collegiate enrollment will count as one year of varsity competition in that sport. Any participation in organized competition during time spent in the U.S. armed services will be excepted.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Hopefully he has an as impressive (or better) freshman campaign as his former Stampede teammates and current River Hawks Ruhwedel and Holmstrom. It's got to be nice to come to a team that has players you've played with before. And it's a nice recruiting lane from which Bazin can continue to get players (in addition to the new ones he's talking about finding).

Like was said a few posts ago, it will be interesting to see what the roster looks like by October.

Sad to see Roloson ride the pine for game five. Although it's much easier to root for the B's when he's not the one who has to give up the goals in order for that to happen. Wonder what his plans are after this season...

I full expect him to announce his retirement and then accept a coaching position with Lowell on Thursday :D

I'm assuming you're talking about Brian Robbins from Capital District? I haven't heard anything about him specifically, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear they're bringing in someone this year.

Ouch, 5.54 GAA but a 89.2% save rate, 6-36-2 record ... but he faced over 46 shots a game.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

According to the Wildcats Elite Facebook page, Lowell does indeed have a new goalie for this upcoming season.
Wildcats Elite The Wildcats Elite would like to congratulate alumni Brian Robbins for his recent commitment to University of Massachusetts-Lowell (NCAA Division 1).
I had just sent an email to a couple of friends with his numbers as well. Not the greatest numbers, but that was a bad team around him (6-37-2). He himself was 6-36-2, with a huge 5.54 GAA but a much better (compared to that) 89.2% save rate, which put him 16th in the league. He played easily the most minutes (his 2,393+ minutes was 400 more than the next player) and had ... get this, 1,818 saves ... 749 saves more than any other goalie.

Wow, that's a lot of rubber.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

An Eagle Tribune article from 5/22/11 on (2012) recruit Chris Eiserman.
Unfortunately we've already one talented family member for a future recruiting class to Maine, I hope we get the third of this trio down the road.
"Hockey is more like a job," said Eiserman, whose older brother Bill will play for the River Hawks this coming season while younger brother Shane is a standout forward at St. John's Prep. "It's almost at the point where it's a big league thing for me."
