Thanks for keeping up with this. There are enough recruits now that I have a hard time keeping track these days. A good problem to have.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

I think all MC recruits should take a hard look at reconsidering. Matt Holmes committed last week and now the coach he committed to is fired.

Four goalies interesting

A. They had 4 goalies in 2016-17 (and all of them played too).
B. We don't know for sure that there will be 4 goalies on the roster when October rolls around.

Uh oh, do you know something Scott?

Two seasons ago, having 4 goaltenders made some sense because neither Cleary or Hernberg seemed ready to be starters as Boyle nearly played every game his Senior year and Garrett Metcalf had a disappointing season in the USHL before coming in. It felt like putting Wall on the roster was an insurance move that ended up working out big time.

This time around it seems like there is more stability in net for next season. I was thinking maybe Cleary might graduate early?

Edit: I just saw that Green signed an NLI, if that means he's getting a full scholarship then maybe Wall or Hernberg is leaving.

Nope, but just because it looks like everyone is coming back now doesn't mean that will be the case 6 months from now when the season actually rolls around.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

@JeffCoxSports
Northeastern receives a commitment from one of the top '03s in USA in Ryan St. Louis. Smart, skilled forward who can make plays and he's not afraid to go into dirty areas. Son of retired NHL super star and UVM alum Marty St. Louis.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

NU recruiting really starting to edge up towards the BC and BU levels ...

@JeffCoxSports
Jack Hughes (St. Sebastian’s/Boston Jr Eagles joins brother Riley in committing to Northeastern. He’s a strong ‘03 NTDP candidate. Has size, skating, and skill. Another huge get for Madigan/Keefe/Smith.

Interesting note (to me at least) ... Lowell has three kids committed currently that are 2000 or later born. Hughes is NU's 7th 2021 commit alone, and 20th from 2000 and on. They have a full game-day roster already committed.

Interesting thoughts from a QU fan.

I for one continued to be dumbfounded how Northeastern is recruiting at this level. They have little to no prestige. Frankly Quinnipiac might have more than them with 2 frozen fours in recent times. Matthews Arena is an ok facility but there are clearly much better ones out there. For me as a QU alum I have zero problem losing elite talented kids from the State of CT (aka the Ryan st. louis and Patrick Harpers of the world) to BU and BC but when we are losing them to Northeastern to me that is unacceptable.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

The NAHL announced their Divisional Awards today.

- Nolan Sawchuk (D) was named to the All Central Division team. Nolan also received the Leadership Award for the Central Division.
- Dominick Procopio (D) was named to the All-South Division Team. Dominick was also named South Defenseman of the Year and received the Community Service Award.
- Austin O’Rourke (F) received the Leadership Award for the South Division.

The three recruits will be in Lowell next season.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

Aidan Harper was selected in the 5th round of the USHL Phase II Draft, 66th overall, by Sioux City.
